Almeida (undisclosed) won't take on David Onama in a lightweight bout at UFC 309 in New York City on Nov. 16 after all, MMAFighting.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It's currently unclear why Almeida is no longer on the card. The fighter was looking to build a win streak in the UFC for the first time in his career after knocking off Timmy Cuamba in his last bout via unanimous decision. His opponent Onama will now need to find a replacement on just over a week's notice.

Almeida will fight David Onama at UFC 309 on Nov. 16, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
After dropping two straight fights, Almeida was able to get back on track with a win over Timothy Cuamba in June. The 33-year-old Brazilian will now need to overcome a three-inch reach disadvantage in order to defeat Onama, who enters with a two-fight win streak.
Snaps brief losing streak

Almeida defeated Timothy Cuamba via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
Entering having lost back-to-back fights, Almeida likely saved his job with the victory. It was by far the most resounding performance of the Brazilian's UFC run, as he landed countless massive power shots and dropped Cuamba on multiple occasions. Almeida typically isn't a big volume guy, so it's imperative his blows do damage if he hopes to have any chance of winning a decision. On this night, he did just that. The win should ensure we see the 33-year-old back in the Octagon once again. Almeida improves to 2-2 in his UFC career.

Almeida will take on Timothy Cuamba in a lightweight bout at UFC Vegas 93 on June 15, Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl reports.
ANALYSIS
Almeida will look to snap his losing streak in the UFC at two. His most recent fight was a loss to Andre Fill in December of 2023, in which he was quickly bested in the first round. He's now 1-2 in the UFC, and will look to even his record against Cuamba, who is coming off his first professional loss in three years. That loss, however, was his first fight in the UFC.
Blasted by Andre Fili
FeatherweightUFC
December 16, 2023
Almeida lost to Andre Fili via TKO (punches) at 3:32 of Round 1 at UFC 296 on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
As Joe Rogan correctly pointed out multiple times on the broadcast, Almeida looks stiff and uncomfortable inside the Octagon. He struggles to get his head off the center line and offers little in terms of in-fight adjustments. That led to him getting clipped by a massive right hand from Fili before getting finished off with some follow-up shots. The Brazilian is now 1-2 in his first three UFC bouts, with both losses coming via stoppage, in addition to a unanimous decision defeat on Dana White's Contender Series. Almeida will probably be fighting for his job his next time out.
