Picks up second straight win
Sygula defeated Priscila Cachoeira via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
ANALYSIS
The UFC gave Sygula a freebee here, and to her credit, she took advantage (even if she wasn't particularly impressive in doing so). All you have to do to defeat Cachoeira is fire off plenty of volume because she doesn't defend herself on the feet. Sygula did just that, attempting 349 total strikes, landing 159 of them. She never really had the Brazilian in significant trouble, but the result was also never in doubt. Sygula will take a two-fight winning streak into her next fight, which will come against a more difficult opponent.

Massively aided by the fact Alekseeva refused to try to grapple, Sygula was able to stand at distance and pick her opponent apart on the feet. She closed with a 101-63 edge in total strikes landed, in addition to connecting on her only takedown attempt in Round 3. Still just 26 years of age, Sygula is young enough to be making improvements on a fight-by-fight basis. We'll see if she can carry this momentum over to her next bout.
