2025 Fantasy Outlook
After diminishing returns in the previous two years with the Canucks, Podkolzin got things back on track in his first year with the Oilers. He had 24 points, 211 hits, 114 shots on net and 48 PIM over 82 regular-season games, and he chipped in another 10 points in 22 playoff outings. Podkolzin will be a restricted free agent next summer, and the challenge for him now is to find year-to-year consistency offensively while maintaining a healthy level of physicality without crossing the line on penalties too often. It's tough for a depth forward in Edmonton to make a fantasy impact, but Podkolzin saw some time on the second line, and if he can be there regularly, he's got a path to at least a bench spot for virtual squads. Scores empty-netter
Podkolzin scored an empty-net goal in Thursday's 3-1 win over the Blackhawks.
ANALYSIS
Podzolkin closed out the scoring for the Oilers with an empty-netter at the 18:59 mark of the final frame. The goal also gave the winger 17 on the season, and he should continue to find plenty of scoring opportunities if he stays on the first line alongside Connor McDavid and Matt Savoie.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2022
Podkolzin has struggled at the NHL level in his last two seasons, after scoring 14 goals and adding 12 assists in 79 regular-season appearances as a 20-year-old rookie in 2021-22. The Russian forward has only four goals and five assists in 58 games in the prior two seasons, regressing to only two assists in 19 contests last year. Podkolzin had 28 points in 44 AHL games with Abbotsford, which likely factored into Edmonton's decision to bring him in via trade. Originally selected him 10th overall in 2019, his new team should be willing to wait on him as power forwards sometimes take longer to develop. He is probably not worth a fantasy spot at this time but might be worth a stash in dynasty or keeper formats.

ANALYSIS
Podkolzin had two assists in 19 regular-season contests with the Canucks. He hasn't played for Vancouver in the 2024 playoffs. If Podkolzin is utilized against the Oilers, it will likely be in a bottom-six capacity.
