2025 Fantasy Outlook
Hamonic continued to carve out bottom-four minutes for the Senators in 2024-25, but as his team made a playoff push, he found himself in the press box more frequently at the end of the season. He finished with a total of seven points in 59 regular-season appearances before being scratched for all six of Ottawa's playoff games. Hamonic signed with the Red Wings as a free agent, and he should spend the bulk of 2025-26 in the NHL. However, with other fringe options like Justin Holl, Erik Gustafsson and Jacob Bernard-Docker around, Hamonic's playing time is likely to remain somewhat limited. Read Past Outlooks
Still in part-time role
Hamonic played for the first time in five games in December when he logged three hits, two blocked shots and two PIM in Wednesday's 4-3 win over the Flames.
ANALYSIS
Hamonic was in the lineup a majority of the time in November, but his role has shrunk in December. The 35-year-old has been sharing one spot in the lineup with Jacob Bernard-Docker, though both could play if Simon Edvinsson (lower body) misses any time after exiting Wednesday's contest. Hamonic has just one helper and a minus-11 rating through 17 appearances, though he's added 18 PIM, 18 hits and 24 blocked shots.

Hamonic was limited to 48 appearances last season, compiling two goals, four assists, 50 shots on net, 75 blocked shots and 54 hits. He is expected to be ready for training camp after undergoing knee surgery. Hamonic averaged a career-low 14:44 of ice time per contest and doesn't have a spot in the lineup secured going into the 2024-25 campaign. The 34-year-old blueliner will compete for a depth role on the roster, and if he plays regularly, he could contribute about 20 points while topping 100 hits and 100 blocks.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Healthy scratch Thursday
Hamonic is expected to be a healthy scratch versus Montreal on Thursday, Claire Hanna of TSN reports.
ANALYSIS
Hamonic will likely be replaced by Jacob Bernard-Docker in the lineup. Coach Jacques Martin said that he wants to "change the chemistry a little bit" and Bernard Docker has a little more quickness than Hamonic. Look for Hamonic to return to the lineup shortly, perhaps for Saturday's home tilt versus Winnipeg.
