2025 Fantasy Outlook
Johansson hasn’t displayed much offensive consistency over the last two seasons, but he has recorded similar statistics. He scored 11 goals in both campaigns while collecting 19 assists in 2023-24 and 23 helpers in 2024-25. The veteran forward made the most of his opportunities alongside Matt Boldy while spending time on the third line last season. Johansson has struggled to finish plays in two straight years and will face challenges getting back to the 40-point plateau in 2025-26 despite seeing time in the middle six. Read Past Outlooks
Headed back to Sweden
Johansson agreed to terms on a contract with Swedish club Farjestad BK on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Johansson played for Farjestad back in 2009-10 before he made the jump to North America. Selected by the Capitals with the 24th overall pick in the 2009 NHL Draft, the veteran winger spent 16 seasons in the NHL, racking up 200 goals and 366 assists in 1,058 regular-season tilts for six different clubs. Coming off a 15-goal, 34-assist campaign, Johansson almost certainly would have had NHL offers when free agency opened July 1.

Johansson had 11 goals and 30 points in 78 contests with the Wild in 2023-24. He's done significantly better before, surpassing the 40-point milestone on six occasions, but five of those times were during his early-to-mid 20s. He'll turn 34 on Oct. 6, and while there are players who stay effective even into their late 30s, Johansson doesn't seem to be tracking toward that level of longevity. The Swedish forward is still likely to be deployed in a middle-six capacity, so he'll get some opportunities, but he'll likely end up in the 25-35 point range again. He also doesn't spend much time in the sin bin or dish out many hits, so he's not expected to be noteworthy in non-offensive categories.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Heading back to Sweden?
Johansson has reportedly agreed to a contract with Swedish club Farjestad, per Michael Russo of The Athletic on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Johansson put up good numbers this season, generating 15 goals and 34 assists in 75 regular-season games, his highest point total since 2016-17, when he was with the Capitals. As such, it comes as somewhat of a surprise to see him leave the NHL behind to sign with Farjestad, a club he last played for back in 2009-10 before making the jump to North America.
