2025 Fantasy Outlook
Expectations were sky-high for Marchessault after he was part of a major spending spree to add talent to the Predators last offseason. Unfortunately, the first year of his five-year, $27.5 million contract did not go according to plan, and the 34-year-old had one of his worst seasons as a pro, scoring just 21 goals, his fewest ever playing a full season. Perhaps most concerning is a player who’s usually been sound defensively was a minus-29. Father time is undefeated, and whether or not that has caught up with Marchessault is a legitimate concern, but it should be noted this was the winger’s first season with a new team and in a new environment. The Predators are still a team with talent, and if Marchessault continues to get power-play time and play on a line with Steven Stamkos and Filip Forsberg next season, don’t rule out a bounceback campaign. Strikes on power play in loss
Marchessault scored a power-play goal on four shots and went minus-2 in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Avalanche.
ANALYSIS
Marchessault has three goals, including two with the man advantage, over his last six games. He went 10 outings without a goal prior to a two-game absence for a lower-body injury. The 34-year-old winger is still having a disappointing campaign with seven goals, 10 points, 58 shots on net, 37 hits and a minus-18 rating through 26 appearances.

With the departure of Marchessault to Nashville, the Golden Knights are down to just two remaining Golden Misfits. The 33-year-old winger is joining former teammate Steven Stamkos in a revamped Predators' lineup that could see the duo link up together on the second line while also partnering up on the No. 1 power-play unit. With these roles in hand, Marchessault should be capable of reaching the 55-point mark for the fourth consecutive season. The high-end finisher is coming off a career year in which he racked up 42 goals, a threshold that might not be as attainable in 2024-25 considering he was scoring at a 15.8 percent rate last year, well above the 12.0 scoring percentage he recorded over the prior two seasons.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Contract could prevent trade
Marchessault has three more years at $5.5 million AAV left on his contract, which could prevent him from being traded, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Thursday.
ANALYSIS
Marchessault also hasn't been doing his trade value any favors, as he is currently mired in a seven-game pointless streak and has managed just four goals and two assists in 17 contests this year. According to LeBrun, there are also questions around the league about whether Marchessault's lack of production is related to his lack of talent around him or if he is showing his age.
