2025 Fantasy Outlook
Expectations were sky-high for Marchessault after he was part of a major spending spree to add talent to the Predators last offseason. Unfortunately, the first year of his five-year, $27.5 million contract did not go according to plan, and the 34-year-old had one of his worst seasons as a pro, scoring just 21 goals, his fewest ever playing a full season. Perhaps most concerning is a player who’s usually been sound defensively was a minus-29. Father time is undefeated, and whether or not that has caught up with Marchessault is a legitimate concern, but it should be noted this was the winger’s first season with a new team and in a new environment. The Predators are still a team with talent, and if Marchessault continues to get power-play time and play on a line with Steven Stamkos and Filip Forsberg next season, don’t rule out a bounceback campaign. ANALYSIS
Marchessault set up Filip Forsberg in the first minute of the game and added a goal of his own early in the second period. It had been a month since Marchessault scored, though he picked up 10 assists over 14 outings between goals. The veteran winger is at 12 goals, 30 points, 123 shots on net, 68 hits and a minus-16 rating over 56 appearances in a middle-six role this season.

With the departure of Marchessault to Nashville, the Golden Knights are down to just two remaining Golden Misfits. The 33-year-old winger is joining former teammate Steven Stamkos in a revamped Predators' lineup that could see the duo link up together on the second line while also partnering up on the No. 1 power-play unit. With these roles in hand, Marchessault should be capable of reaching the 55-point mark for the fourth consecutive season. The high-end finisher is coming off a career year in which he racked up 42 goals, a threshold that might not be as attainable in 2024-25 considering he was scoring at a 15.8 percent rate last year, well above the 12.0 scoring percentage he recorded over the prior two seasons.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
On trade block?
The Predators are believed to be open to moving Marchessault before the March 6 trade deadline, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports Friday.
ANALYSIS
Marchessault is in just the second season of his five-year, $27.5 million contract, but he's 35 years old, and the Predators entered the Olympic break outside of a playoff spot with their 26-24-7 record, so it might make sense for both sides to part ways. Friedman believes there's a willingness from Marchessault to accept a trade, which is critical due to his no-movement clause. He has struggled this campaign with 10 goals and 17 points in 38 outings, but Marchessault has heated up with three goals and seven points over his past eight appearances, which might attract interest from teams.
