2025 Fantasy Outlook
He wasn't able to replicate his 2023-24 success, but Bouchard still put together a solid regular season in 2024-25 with 14 goals, 67 points, 235 shots on net, 108 blocked shots and a plus-14 rating over 82 games before adding 23 points in 22 playoff contests. Entering his age-26 season, it doesn't look like Bouchard will ever be the strongest defender in the league, but as long as he's with the Oilers, he's a stud fantasy blueliner because of his power-play role. Bouchard is a virtual lock for 60-plus points and adds a decent share of blocks, and it's the offense that will have him going in the early-to-middle rounds of most fantasy drafts. Read Past Outlooks
Extends point streak to nine
Bouchard scored a goal and fired six shots on net in Thursday's 7-2 loss to Dallas.
ANALYSIS
Bouchard put the Oilers on the board at 7:53 of the second period to cut the deficit to four goals. His tally brought him up to 19 goals, 76 points, 184 shots on net and 87 blocked shots across 66 games this season. While the Oilers have had an up-and-down start to their post-Olympic break action, the 26-year-old blueliner has excelled offensively with 16 points during his nine-game point streak. He leads all NHL defensemen in points by eight, and despite playing on a stacked offense, he has carried his weight in the offensive third. He's on pace to shatter his career-best mark of 82 points from the 2023-24 campaign, and if he continues to score steadily, Bouchard should be a candidate for this season's Norris Trophy.

Bouchard enjoyed a breakout performance in 2023-24, compiling 18 goals and 82 points in 81 regular-season games. Only four blueliners scored more goals than him, and he ranked fourth among defensemen in points. He also finished third in power-play points by defenders last season, achieving a personal best of 35. Bouchard also posted career highs in average ice time per game (23:00), plus-minus rating (plus-34), game-winning goals (seven) and shots on goal (220). He added 105 blocked shots and 71 hits for additional category coverage. Entering the 2024-25 campaign, Bouchard should be one of the first blueliners off the board in fantasy drafts. He will quarterback a dangerous Edmonton power play and can help managers in several statistical areas.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Poised for four-year deal
Bouchard and the Oilers are working toward a new deal for the restricted free agent that's expected to be around four years in length, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Bouchard will need a new deal this offseason, and all signs point to the two sides coming together on a contract and avoiding arbitration or an offer sheet scenario. The 25-year-old blueliner fell short of his career-best numbers of 82 points from 2023-24 this past season, but he still managed to generate 67 points, including 26 with the man advantage, while playing in all 82 regular-season games. The Ontario native likely won't come cheap but could cash in again before turning 30 if he does sign a four-year deal.
