During this Thanksgiving season, perhaps you should be thankful that these power-play performers may be available in your league. That may seem silly, but, in 2016, can you think of anything else that deserves more thankfulness?
Alexander Radulov, RW, MON – We all probably intuitively knew that Radulov would succeed in the NHL, but he's certainly impressed since returning from Russia. Despite missing a couple of games recently, Radulov has five power-play points. Also, in his two games since returning from a brief absence, he's averaged 4:56 on the power play, so clearly the Habs like having him out there with the extra man.
David Krejci, C, BOS – Krejci is playing the fewest overall minutes since the 2008-09 season, but the 3:18 he is averaging on the power play is the most in six years. He's picked up five power-play points, including one in each of his last two games. Last year he had 18 power-play points in 72 games, so he's on a sustainable pace based on past performance.
Valtteri Filppula, C, TAM – Filppula is one of the players that could see more opportunity with the injury to Steven Stamkos. He has four power-play points in his last 10 games, and five overall. He hasn't been playing as many minutes with the extra man as in year's past, but that could change. Alexander Wennberg, C, CLM – Wennberg has been mentioned here before but he's still available in a decent chunk of leagues. The talented young Swede is heading toward a breakout year, and he's already got 10 power-play points. He had 12 last year in 69 games, but he should clear 20 this season. There's still time to hop on board.
Taylor Fedun, D, BUF – Fedun is a 28-year-old blueliner who had only played in 12 NHL games before this season. However, the Sabres called him up recently, and he's already playing a ton of power-play minutes. He has three power-play points, and he's played at least 2:55 with the extra man in all four games he's played in. This may not continue, but it's worth looking into right now.
Anthony DeAngelo, D, ARI – The 2014 first round pick notched an assist Wednesday night. Though it wasn't on the power play, it's an encouraging sign for the 21-year-old rookie. He has five total points in seven games, but three of those have come with the extra man. DeAngelo is playing more than 19 minutes a night, so if you're looking for a player with both potential and opportunity, DeAngelo might be your guy.
