ANALYSIS
The 18-year-old amateur opened the tournament with a three-over 73 but rebounded nicely with a six-under 66 score Friday that included five birdies in an eight-hole stretch, but that wasn't enough for him to make it to the weekend. As the reigning U.S. Amateur champion, Howell will make his debut appearance at Augusta National in two weeks time.
