2026 Fantasy Outlook
Spieth was a top-10 player in the world for most of his first five years on the PGA Tour, but his game started to slide in 2018. He bottomed-out in 2020, but by 2021, he was back inside the top 20. His game fell off again in 2024 due to injury, and as of this past season, he's still working his way back. The question is, if he does make it back, how far back does he get? Can he be the top-10 player again? It seems unlikely that he'll reach those heights again, but he's certainly capable of getting back into the top 30. Spieth provides a pretty solid floor with a high ceiling for someone in the $3 million range. As such, he makes for a solid salary cap pick for the upcoming season. Read Past Outlooks
T66 at Travelers Championship
Spieth carded a three-under 67 in the final round of the Travelers Championship to finish tied with Lucas Glover and Ryan Fox for 66th.
ANALYSIS
Spieth saved his best round for last but was one of seven players out of the 72-man field that scored even-par or worse for the tournament. He lost 3.67 strokes on the green (64th) and 4.57 strokes off the tee (70th) while ranking T59 in GIR and T69 in driving accuracy. Spieth has eight top-25 finishes this season but no top-10s and has finished outside the top-50 in five of his last six tournaments, including an MC at the Memorial Tournament and T56 at last week's U.S. Open. Spieth will have a great opportunity to reverse his fortunes next week at the John Deere Classic, which he won in both 2013 and 2015.

Spieth set the bar incredibly high in 2015 when he won six tournaments and pocketed over $12 million in earnings. He had some success in the years after, but he never reached those heights again. It's taken awhile, but the bar has been reset on Spieth, realizing that he's just not the guy that can win multiple majors in one year anymore. Even with the lowered bar however, 2024 was a major disappointment. A lot can be attributed to a wrist injury that he may have been battling all season. He finally decided to have surgery in August, and while his play is bound to improve, we simply don't know how long it will take to get healthy and then find his stroke again. Spieth is an interesting salary cap pick this season because he could take a while to heal and give you next to nothing, or he could play much better than previous seasons with a healthy wrist. All reports seem to be positive and he might be ready for the start of the 2025 season. If that's the case, he should be a solid salary cap play this season.
