2026 Fantasy Outlook
Day was one of the best golfers on the planet a decade ago, and while he's nowhere near that level anymore, he's been pretty productive over the past three years. Those three seasons followed a rough patch (for someone at Day's level) where he failed to top $2 million earnings in any season. Since then however he's posted some big numbers and found a home again in the top 50. Although it feels like he's been around for a couple decades, Day is yet to turn 40 and should have plenty left in the tank. He's only three years removed from a season where he nearly earned $7 million, so that would seemingly be the ceiling right now. As such, he's in the mix for a salary cap spot this season. MC by three strokes at The Open
Day posted a four-over cumulative score at The Open Championship to miss the cut by three strokes.
ANALYSIS
Day opened the tournament with a three-over 73 score Thursday, and any hopes of qualifying for the weekend were dashed after carding three bogeys from holes six to nine in the second round. He was fairly accurate off the tee in both rounds, but he lost 2.64 strokes with his putter in the first round and lost another 2.39 strokes in his approach play during Friday's round. The Australian has finished outside the top-35 in each of his last eight outings, including T65 at the PGA Championship and a withdraw from the U.S. Open due to a back injury. Day will tee off at next week's 3M Open, where he finished T64 in his last appearance in 2022.

Day might not be quite what he was, but he's still proven to be capable of racking up consistent finishes and maybe even challenging for wins a couple times a season. Day continues to be one of the top putters in the game gaining strokes on the greens in 16 straight events to close the season. He also ranked top-15 in SG: Putting and putts per GIR. The iron play is the one thing that gives pause for concern as he ranekd 148th in SG: Approach, 162nd in GIR percentage and 175th in proximity. Day has ranked outside the top-100 in all of those statistics the last three seasons. He's so consistent with the putter that it makes up for a lot of those short comings with his iron play, but if he ever goes through a bit of a funk on the greens Day will be in trouble.
