Grayson Murray

Since winning the Barbasol Championship in 2017, Murray has been unable to show much since with just two top-10 results since 2018. In 14 appearances in the 2019-20 season, Murray missed the cuts in nine of them with only two results inside the top 50. Distance with the driver is a big strength for Murray, but he's never shown much feel on the greens. He'll need to improve that part of his game to make cuts on a more consistent basis.

A back injury kept Murray sidelined from April's Valero Texas Open through the end of the regular season, but he managed to return on the Korn Ferry Tour in early June when he tied for second at the Rex Hospital Open. Playing against lesser competition became quite a positive for Murray throughout the remainder of the summer as he went on to finish T23-T11-T7 during the KFT Finals, retaining his card for the 2019-20 season. Murray has given fantasy owners headaches in the past with his numerous withdrawals for seemingly minor injuries, but his driving distance and birdie average metrics are upside indicators to combat the risk.

Murray picked up a win during his rookie season of 2017 and while he failed to post another victory in his sophomore season, he managed to stay afloat. He didn't win last season, but his percentage of cuts made went from 60 to 75 percent. He also matched his total top-10s and top-25s from the previous season. Murray could have easily taken a huge step back last season as his card was secure for this season no matter how he finished, but he managed to play fairly well. Throw in a two-month stint on the DL with a shoulder injury and his numbers look even better. As long as his shoulder heals, Murray should continue to improve in his third season on the PGA Tour.

Murray's rookie season was not going very well until he teed it up at the Barbasol Championship in July. Four days later he had a PGA Tour victory in his pocket and everything changed. Well, his play didn't change much as he struggled on the way in, like he did on the way out, but instead of struggling to get inside the top-125 to keep his card, he was comfortably inside the top-100 and had no worries about his card. There was some steam on Murray heading into last season, so the fact that he won isn't much of a surprise, but that win made it difficult to take him in salary cap leagues as now he carries a decent price tag.

Murray ran the podium on the Web.com Tour, winning at the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, which turned out to be the final event of the Web.com Tour season due to Hurricane Matthew, losing in a playoff at the Digital Ally Open and finishing third at the Boise Open. With five other top-10s, he was one of the more consistent players on the Web.com Tour season — especially late – which is useful considering the Safeway Open kicks off the 2016-17 PGA Tour season in mid-October. He can drive for show - 319.4 yards per drive – and putt for dough, too, ranking fifth, and is someone to watch this fall to see if he can carry over that momentum from late summer.
