2026 Fantasy Outlook
Thompson appeared to be on his way up after a strong sophomore campaign in 2024, but he never really found the magic in 2025. As is often the case with young golfers that pick up their first win, his game fell off a bit the following season. This happens because the pressure of retaining their card is off for two years. This is year two however, so if Thompson wants to retain his playing priveleges for 2027, he'll have to earn it this season. Normally that pressure is enough to snap the golfer out of whatever funk they found themselves in and that should hold true for Thompson this season. Luckily for those playing in salary cap leagues, Thompson's number dropped pretty low this past season, making him a solid play this year. Read Past Outlooks
Medalist honors at U.S. Open qualifying
Thompson earned medalist honors at U.S. Open Final Qualifying at the Lakes Golf and Country Club in Westerville, OH.
ANALYSIS
Thompson made only one bogey in 36 holes to claim medalist honors by two strokes. Thompson has had a very strong ball striking year on the PGA Tour, but has really struggled to get anything going with the putter. He does have four top-15 finishes in 2026. Thompson will make his fifth career U.S. Open start next week. He finished T9 back in 2024. Thompson is also in the field for this week's RBC Canadian Open where he will be hoping to move up from 90th in the FedExCup standings.

2023
Thompson had a career year in 2024 ranking top-10 in both SG: Total and adjusted scoring average on the PGA Tour to go along with notching his first win at the John Deere Classic. Thompson also had two runner-up results as well and totaled 13 top-25 finishes. Usually one of the last things that comes along for young players is the short game, but the 25-year-old has some of the best hands on Tour ranking fifth in SG: Around-the-Green. Thompson also has the power, precision with the irons and putting stroke to make him be successful on the PGA Tour for a long time to come. It would not be shocking to see Thompson put together an even bigger season in 2025 and maybe even make the U.S. Ryder Cup team at Bethpage.
