The Reshuffle List: Fallout from the Third Reshuffle

While the rest of the world had their eyes trained on the Augusta National Golf Club last week, those on the Reshuffle List were paying careful attention to where they landed following the third reshuffle. We're only four months away from the regular-season finale, which means PGA Tour cards will be on the line for the 2015-16 season before you know it. Here's the latest.

Clinched 2015-16 PGA Tour Card (it took 438 points to clinch a 2013-14 card)

Daniel Berger - Berger's playoff loss at the Honda Classic, coupled with a T13 at Bay Hill and a T25 in Houston have given him more than enough points to have a place to play for next season. For Berger -- more so than the next two players with clinched cards -- he's in a serious position to make a run in the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Those 701 points have him 19th, and with a game that has him ranked 26th in strokes gained-total, watch out for him to make another run at his first PGA Tour victory before this season is out.

Sean O'Hair - The feel-good story has to be O'Hair, who has been on golf's grandest stage and darkest stage more times than many can count. He was overshadowed in the Valspar Championship playoff where Jordan Spieth defeated him and Patrick Reed, but the finish gave him a huge bump in FedEx Cup points and now puts him second on the Reshuffle List. He also backed up that strong play with a nice T29 finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. At 46th in the FedEx Cup Points standings and 54th in the all-around ranking, O'Hair has a chance to make some waves come August and September as well, but most of all will feel grateful for having a place to play on the PGA Tour for consecutive years. The way his career has gone, that's a luxury.

Justin Thomas - One of Spieth's closest friends and longest golfing adversaries, Thomas suddenly has a major champion to look up to and to live with -- for this week at least at the RBC Heritage where they are sharing a house. The good news for Thomas is that he can also think about the future now that he has his PGA Tour card clinched for the 2015-16 season. The strong start of the year that nearly saw him win the Sony Open and Humana Challenge was buoyed further by a T10 at Tampa and two other in-the-money finishes during the most recent reshuffle period. At 47th in FedEx Cup points and 16th in birdie average, he can now start thinking about getting his first PGA Tour win with his job secure for next season.

On the Cusp

Tony Finau - Last season it took 438 FedEx Cup points to clinch a card for the 2014-15 PGA Tour season. This year there's an extra event on the schedule, the Barbasol Championship same week as The Open Championship, giving everyone not in the season's third major a place to play. So assuming the number stays about the same or goes a little higher, Finau is just short of clinching a card. The good news is that when you need that few points, finishes like a T68 and T42 (his two in-the-money finishes during this reshuffle period) will get it done. The bad news is that those finishes were also joined by three missed cuts, and a game that has not seen contention since Torrey Pines in February. If Finau, 162nd in strokes gained-putting can right the ship, he'll not only have a card for next year but also a chance at his first PGA Tour title.

Notable Gainer

Sam Saunders - Saunders' playoff loss in Puerto Rico earned him 104 FedEx Cup points and a corresponding boost up the Reshuffle List. That was followed by solid finishes of T24 at Tampa, T29 in his grandfather's event, the Arnold Palmer Invitational, and T65 in Houston. All told he's gotten himself up to 21st on the list, where playing opportunities should be plentiful and thus a good chance at earning the 210 or so points he needs to clinch his card. Saunders is 33rd in total driving.

Biggest Losers

No one lost more than 10 spots during the most recent reshuffle period, with Colt Knost (-8 spots), Alex Prugh (-7) and Max Homa (-6) dropping the most.

Knost failed to make a weekend during the most recent reshuffle period, missing four cuts and withdrawing another time. Prugh had two in-the-money finishes, a T62 in Bay Hill and a T42 in Houston, while Homa only played on one weekend, nabbing a T56 at the Valero Texas Open.

The Nothing Men Update

Bud Cauley and Richard Sterne continue to be the only players with no FedEx Cup points this season. Cauley is still out with the torn labrum (though this picture he retweeted from earlier this week appears to show he's on his way back) and Sterne continues to miss cuts, failing to make the weekend at the Arnold Palmer Invitational during this reshuffle period.
