The Reshuffle List: Fallout from the Sixth Reshuffle

This article is part of our The Reshuffle List series.

It's said time flies when you're having fun, but for the members of the PGA Tour's Reshuffle List, this season has probably been anything but. The stress of trying to keep your card with limited playing opportunities is always a burden, and now with the final reshuffle of the season after the John Deere Classic, we're officially into the home stretch. With the Wyndham Championship in late August ending the PGA Tour's regular season, here's where we stand now:

14. Steve Wheatcroft 447.920

Clinched Card Since Last Update

Greg Owen - Owen's card was clinched with the 81 FedEx Cup points he gained via a T6 finish at the Greenbrier Classic. Spearheaded by opening rounds of 65-67, Owen ranked first in strokes gained-tee to green for the week, gaining more than 10 shots on the field in that department. For the season, Owen now has a second (in Memphis), part of two top-10s and three top-25 finishes in 15 starts.

Chad Collins -
Collins also tied for sixth at Greenbrier, a finish that gave him a place

Chad Collins -
Collins also tied for sixth at Greenbrier, a finish that gave him a place to play on the PGA Tour for 2015-16. Four rounds in the 60s did the job -- 65-67-68-69. He has just one top-10 and four top-25s in 20 starts, but he's made the weekend 15 times, and that means money and more importantly for him, FedEx Cup points. That ultimately secured his job.

Steve Wheatcroft -
Wheatcroft most likely has a PGA Tour card for next season. The addition of this week's Barbasol Championship means the 438 points it took to make it to the playoffs last year may go a bit higher. But even so, it's just one event, so Wheatcroft is probably in. If that's the case, he can thank a tie for eighth at the John Deere Classic that earned him 78 FedEx Cup points and saw him rank 15th for the week in strokes gained-tee to green and 10th in strokes gained-putting for doing the job.

On the Cusp

15. S.J. Park 409.500 FedEx Cup Points
16. Kyle Reifers 407.540

Park made a big move the last couple weeks, using his time in the spotlight at the Greenbrier to help his cause. He finished T37, setback by a Sunday 75 after a Saturday 66 had him in contention to win. But, the finish was his best since Tampa all the way back in March, and it put him in position where he needs just one solid finish to secure a spot on the PGA Tour next season. He was helped at Greenbrier by strong iron play, as he ranked T4 in greens in regulation.

The Quest for 200

Players ranked 126-200 qualify for the Web.com Tour Finals, where they compete against the first 75 Web.com Tour players who missed PGA Tour cards, for the final 25 PGA Tour cards for the 2015-16 season.

34. Oscar Fraustro 101.833 FedEx Cup Points, 191st place
35. Bill Lunde 85.645, 195th place
36. Byron Smith 83.500, 196th place
37. Roger Sloan 73.990, 200th place
38. Tyrone Van Aswegen 71.430, 202nd place
39. Jarrod Lyle (Medical) 63.380, 205th place
40. Heath Slocum 59.062, 208th place

Lyle chose to return to Australia and continue his return from cancer and his major medical exemption next season. He will not play again on the PGA Tour or Web.com Tour Finals during the 2014-2015 season.

Last season, Doug LaBelle and his 79 points was good enough to make the finals.

All of these golfers are frustrated, but one who probably is surprised he's in his predicament is Fraustro. He has something for people at this end of the points standings: a top-10 finish! He tied for ninth at Mayakoba in the last event of 2014, but has failed to get any momentum in the new year. For the season, he has just five made cuts in 17 events. That won't cut it. He's only cracked the top 65 once in 2015: a T38 at Puerto Rico.

Two Notes:

1) For both of these thresholds, while you can go by 2013-14 to a certain point, eventually it's about you and the guy ahead of you. In other words, if you trail player A for No. 125 and player A chooses to either not play the Wyndham Championship or misses the cut there and you make it to the weekend, you basically have to earn enough points to pass him and hope no one else leapfrogs both of you. So as much as we talk about point totals to shoot for, it still is ultimately about being No. 125 or better (or being No. 200 or better for the Web.com Tour Finals) come the end of play at Wyndham. For the golfers trying to make the playoffs, it should be noted those who have "clinched" cards rank no lower than 103rd on the FedEx Cup Points list, with Kyle Reifers 115th.

2) For the golfers looking to make the playoffs and keep their cards, the PGA Tour STILL will take anyone who finishes in the top 125 on the money list. That old option was supposed to be eliminated several season ago when everything began to revolve around FedEx Cup Points, but the players balked. So there is a bailout option there, though the number of players who keep a card that way is never more than three or four. Over the next two Reshuffle List articles, we will look at the money list and note anyone who wouldn't keep a card on points but would via money.
