Rest-of-Season Projections
2024 Fantasy Outlook
Following a breakout 2022 season where Nwosu piled up 9.5 sacks and landed a three-year, $45 million contract, the veteran linebacker's season was marred by a pectoral injury that ended his season after six games. The 27-year-old has made a full recovery and is set up well to bounce back now that Boye Mafe has blossomed into a proven pass-rusher on the other side of the line. There's some risk that Nwosu's 2022 campaign was his peak, which could lead to Darrell Taylor and second-year LB Derick Hall to eat into his snaps. But it's more likely Nwosu is the real deal and can approach 10 sacks once again. Read Past Outlooks
Dealing with significant injury
Seahawks general manager John Schneider said Thursday that Nwosu is dealing with a "pretty intense quad strain," Bob Condotta of The Seattle Times reports.
ANALYSIS
Nwosu was placed on injured reserve with a thigh injury Thursday, which is now understood to be a quadriceps issue. Schneider added that the linebacker is "going to miss some time here," so it's unclear if the minimum four games on IR will be enough. In the meantime, Trevis Gipson will likely see an increase in workload while Nwosu is unavailable, beginning on Thursday Night Football against the 49ers.

2022
2021
Nwosu took advantage of increased opportunity with the Seahawks in 2022, as he posted career highs in tackles (67) and sacks (9.5) while averaging 51.5 defensive snaps per game. He has one year left on his contract and stands to receive a significant increase in pay if he can repeat that effort this season. Nwosu should have every opportunity to do so as long as he can hold off 2022 second-round pick Boye Mafe - who had a mediocre rookie season - and 2023 second-rounder Derick Hall.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Looking to shine in new role
Nwosu feels that his new situation in Seattle is "Like a breath of fresh air," that will allow him to "really be able to shine and put my name out there," after four years in a limited role with the Chargers, Michael Baca of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The Seahawks certainly feel that Nwosu is ready to be a full-time starting pass rusher after signing him to a two-year, $20 million contract this offseason. The 25-year-old started to shoulder a larger role during his final season with the Chargers in 2021, starting 15 of 17 games and registering career highs with 40 tackles and five sacks while playing 744 defensive snaps. Nwosu has flashed the potential to be an effective pass rusher with 15 career sacks, but he will have the opportunity to show his overall versatility in new Seattle's newly implemented defensive system under first-year coordinator Clint Hurtt.
