Sack total plummets in 2025
DEJacksonville Jaguars
February 7, 2026
Walker posted 38 tackles (19 solo), including 3.5 sacks, and two pass defenses across 14 regular-season games in 2025 with the Jaguars.
ANALYSIS
The Jaguars exercised Walker's fifth-year option in April after he logged double-digit sacks in both 2023 and 2024. However, the fourth-year pro came nowhere close to that level of production in 2025, though that decreased production can be partially attributed to him dealing with wrist and knee injuries throughout the season. The 2026 season is the last year of Walker's contract, and it's possible that Jacksonville lets the 2022 first-rounder play out his rookie deal rather than offer an extension.

Walker will forever be compared to Aidan Hutchinson thanks to their relative draft positions in 2022, and that is very unlikely to be a positive thing for him. However, Walker has shown progress every season as a pro. His improvement in 2024 came primarily as a run defender and resulted in him logging a career-best 60 tackles and 13 tackles for loss. Combined with back-to-back double-digit sack seasons, Walker is slowly emerging as a well-rounded contributor for both the Jaguars and fantasy managers. Even if he plateaus a bit in 2025, Walker has established himself as a strong fantasy producer along the defensive line. He should also maintain a key role this season after having his fifth-year option picked up, a clear signal that the new coaching staff and management regime in Jacksonville are still prioritizing Walker's role with the team.
The 2022 first overall pick had a quiet rookie campaign with just 2.5 sacks, but he took a leap forward as a sophomore NFLer last season with 10 sacks in 17 games. Walker and Josh Allen were one of the best sack duos in the league with 27.5 combined, and Allen's five-year, $150 million contract has ensured the pairing will continue for the foreseeable future. Walker still has just one forced fumble in his 32 NFL games, and turning into a more complete playmaker is the next step in his development.
It was a quiet rookie campaign for the first overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, as he finished with 49 tackles (24 solo), 3.5 sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 15 games. He's unlikely to jump into IDP relevance in 2023, but the Georgia product should see significant playing time early on in hopes of a significant jump during his second season as a pro.
The first overall pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, Walker should immediately step into a major role on Jacksonville's defensive front. The 21-year-old didn't start a game at Georgia until his junior season in 2021, but he still finished with 9.5 sacks and 13.5 tackles for loss over 36 games in his collegiate career. Walker should see plenty of opportunities from Week 1 given his raw athleticism, though it could take some time for him to be an IDP factor as he develops.

Looks likely for extension
DEJacksonville Jaguars
January 27, 2026
The Jaguars want to keep Walker, Michael DiRocco of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Walker will play on the fifth year of his rookie contract in 2026. While there haven't been reports of any negotiations toward an extension, the Jaguars are believed to want to keep Walker around for the long term. A new deal could look similar to that of teammate Josh Hines-Allen, who signed a five-year, $141 million extension in April 2024.
