Inks deal with Detroit
McCreary and the Lions agreed to terms on a one-year contract Friday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
McCreary opened the 2025 season with the Titans before being traded to the Rams in late October. He missed four games while on injured reserve due to a hip injury and finished the regular season with 37 tackles (23 solo), including 1.0 sacks, and two pass defenses (one interception) across 14 games. McCreary operated mostly in a rotational role in the secondary for the Rams and figures to reprise that same role with the Lions while also contributing on special teams.

How do Roger McCreary's measurables compare to other cornerbacks?

McCreary began his career primarily as an outside corner and with a full snap count, but things have progressively trended downward. Even with the Titans' secondary suffering several key injuries in 2024, he played exclusively in the slot. His performance also continues to decline, as he allowed a career-high 79.7 percent completion rate when targeted while being credited with just one pass breakup. McCreary is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2025, and he doesn't appear likely to remain in Tennessee in the long term. That makes his role vulnerable if his performance continues to trend the wrong direction.

Name to watch at trade deadline
McCreary should garner plenty of interest from teams looking to add a cornerback by the Nov. 4 trade deadline, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
It's looking like another lost season for the Titans, who sit at a 1-6 record heading into their Week 8 AFC South tilt against the Colts. Russini notes that quarterback Cam Ward and defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons are the only two players that the Titans aren't listening to offers for, but McCreary -- who is in the final year of his rookie contract -- appears to be a likely candidate to be moved before the trade deadline. McCreary has accumulated 30 combined tackles and two pass defenses, including an interception, through seven regular-season games.
