Shipped to San Francisco in trade
The 49ers acquired Odighizuwa (elbow) from the Cowboys in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Todd Archer of ESPN.com, Odighizuwa had offseason surgery on his elbow, termed a clean-up procedure, that is not expected to affect his availability for the offseason program. A third-round pick in the 2021 Draft, Odighizuwa signed a new four-year, $80 million deal with Dallas last offseason. He appeared in all 17 regular-season games, making 13 starts, and has missed just one contest throughout his five-year career. During the 2025 campaign, Odighizuwa posted 44 tackles (16 solo), including 3.5 sacks, and he gives the Niners a needed boost to their defensive line.

A third-round pick in 2021, Odighizuwa hasn't missed a game since his rookie year and has emerged as a stalwart along the defensive line, averaging 45.3 tackles and 3.8 sacks per year over the last three seasons. That performance earned him a four-year, $80 million contract extension in March. He could use some better run-stuffers around him, but new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus' scheme prioritizes the three-technique, and it could lead to a career-best campaign for Odighizuwa.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could be on move
Teams around the league believe the Cowboys might trade Odighizuwa this offseason, Jonathan Jones of CBSSports.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Odighizuwa and the Cowboys agreed to a four-year, $80 million extension last offseason, and he remains one of the better interior pass rushers in the league. However, with Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark also on the roster, Odighizuwa may not see enough snaps to earn that salary. Any deal could wait until after June 1, as Dallas would incur only $4 million in dead cap space as opposed to $16 million if a trade occurs before then.
