2026 Projections
Timeline for return still blurry
Coach Dan Campbell said Thursday that the Lions don't expect to know until training camp what their expectations for Joseph (knee) will be for 2026, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Joseph sat out all of Detroit's last 13 games in 2025 due to a lingering knee injury, and he's apparently still not in shape for football activities with OTAs in progress. As long as he remains unavailable, veteran free agent acquisition Chuck Clark could see more opportunities to work with the first team.

Joseph cashed in with a four-year contract extension in the offseason, which was well-deserved after another impressive campaign in 2024. The safety registered 83 total tackles while also adding 12 passes defensed, including an NFL-leading nine interceptions, over 17 regular-season games. Joseph has now snatched 17 picks over three years in Detroit, and he ranks second to only linebacker Alex Anzalone (317) in total tackles since 2022, posting 248 stops over that time. He once again figures to be at the top of his position in production in the league this season.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
No on-field work yet
Joseph, who missed the last 11 games of the 2025 season due to a chronic knee injury, continues to rehabilitate but is not participating in any on-field work during OTAs, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Head coach Dan Campbell said Friday as the Lions wrapped up their first set of OTAs that Joseph, Brian Branch and Sam LaPorta were "all improving" following their season-ending injuries. However, Joseph remains limited to classroom work and meetings for the time being, and Campbell stressed the emphasis is on the veteran safety continuing to make progress in his rehab sans any definitive return timetable.
