The Packers agreed to terms with Hargrave on a two-year, $23 million contract Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hargrave was released by Minnesota in a cost-cutting move earlier Wednesday. He quickly lands back on his feet with the division-rival Packers. Now 33 years old, Hargrave remains productive after accruing 52 tackles (18 solo), including 3.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery across 16 regular-season contests in 2025. He figures to slot in at nose tackle for Green Bay.

Hargrave played only three regular-season games in 2024 due to a triceps injury, but he joins the Vikings at full health via a two-year, $30 million contract. Alongside fellow free-agent signee Jonathan Allen and incumbent starter Harrison Phillips, Hargrave appears primed for plentiful starting reps as a leader of what Minnesota hopes will be a resurgent pass-rush corps.
Hargrave turned in a solid campaign in his first year in red and gold, recording 44 tackles and seven sacks across 16 starts. The veteran defensive tackle did suffer a torn ligament in his thumb towards the end of the season, which may require surgery before he hits the field in 2024. Under contract through 2026, Hargrave will continue anchoring the interior of the 49ers defensive line for this upcoming season and beyond.
Hargrave cashed in on a 60-tackle, 11-sack campaign with Philadelphia in 2022, parlaying that success into a four-year, $84 million contract with San Francisco this offseason. The seven-year pro immediately gives the 49ers an interior pass-rush threat that they've lacked since trading away DeForest Buckner in 2020. It's tough to expect double-digit sack totals from the defensive tackles regularly, but it's hard to imagine Hargrave not performing well on the same line as star pass rusher Nick Bosa.
Hargrave, a 2016 second-rounder is coming off a 2021 campaign -- his second with the Eagles -- in which he recorded a career-high 63 tackles and 7.5 sacks in 16 games. He'll continue to man a starting defensive tackle for the team this coming season and as long as the 6-2, 305-pounder can continue to rack up steady tackles, the 29-year-old will merit IDP consideration.
Signed to a three-year deal last offseason, Hargrave failed to rack up even two-thirds the number of tackles he had in his walk year in Pittsburgh (38 versus 60). He at least tallied 4.5 sacks, which was a half-sack improvement over his last year with the Steelers. The 28-year-old has been durable, having missed just two games in his entire five-year career.
Hargrave parlayed a personal-best 60 tackles and a solid four sacks in 2019 into a three-year deal with Philadelphia, where he'll be paired alongside All-Pro Fletcher Cox to form one of the league's most fearsome interior lines. The South Carolina State product has been quite healthy during his four years in the league - he's missed one game his entire career - and should be a stable presence up front for the Eagles should the Cox or Malik Jackson be forced to miss time.
Entering the final year of his contract, Hargrave is coming off a solid 2018 season in which he set personal bests in both tackles and sacks. He is surprisingly agile for his size and has missed just one game in his career making him an attractive IDP option, especially in formats the differentiate defensive tackles from defensive ends.
Hargrave returns as the starting nose tackle after a solid 2017 campaign in which he practically mirrored his performance from the previous season. He is an integral part of a rejuvenated defensive unit that ranked fifth in the league but may not put up the individual statistics to merit IPD consideration.
The second-year nose tackle has supplanted Daniel McCullers as the starter for a defensive unit that continues to get younger. An increase in playing time could translate in to a stronger fantasy performance, after finishing his rookie season with 27 tackles, including two sacks, and a fumble recovery returned for a touchdown.
The rookie nose tackle earned a spot on the 53-man roster out of training camp, and will serve as the backup to Daniel McCullers.

Set for release
DTMinnesota Vikings
March 1, 2026
The Vikings have informed Hargrave that he will be released at the start of the new league year March 11 barring a trade, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
ANALYSIS
Minnesota has reportedly been shopping Hargrave, but a suitor willing to meet the Vikings' asking price hasn't emerged. If no trade materializes, the Vikings will simply cut Hargrave, which would save $10.9 million in cap space. Hargrave shouldn't have trouble finding a landing spot if he hits the open market, as the 33-year-old defensive tackle was serviceable in 2025, with 3.5 sacks among his 52 tackles.
