2026 Fantasy Outlook
Typically, when there is a disconnect between a player's fantasy value and value to their team, it skews toward the player having superior fantasy value. The opposite is true of Lloyd. Despite developing the ability to play well against the run and pass as well as excelling as a pass rusher, he has never logged 1,000 defensive snaps while topping 115 total tackles only once in his four-year career. Part of that relative lack of production was likely caused by the presence of Foyesade Oluokun, who has been Jacksonville's top linebacker since joining the team in 2022. Now, Lloyd should have the chance to captain a defense of his own after joining the Panthers on a three-year, $45 million contract this offseason. He should play an every-down role with a realistic chance of posting a career-best tackle mark. Lloyd's upside is arguably among the highest in the league, with fantasy managers left to balance that against his track record of more modest production. Read Past Outlooks

Inks deal with Carolina

March 9, 2026
The Panthers agreed to terms with Lloyd on a three-year, $45 million contract Monday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
After being selected with the 27th overall pick in the 2022 Draft, Lloyd spent his first four seasons with the Jaguars. After posting 100-plus tackles in three straight seasons, Lloyd managed just 81 tackles (35 solo), including 1.5 sacks, across 15 regular-season starts during the 2025 campaign. However, Lloyd made an impact elsewhere in the box score, recording seven pass breakups, including a career-best five interceptions, and was named a second-team All-Pro. Lloyd should be an every-down linebacker in Carolina after playing just 73 percent of the defensive snaps for the Jaguars last season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
2023
Lloyd delivered his third straight campaign of 100-plus tackles last season, as he finished with 113 stops (61 solo), including two sacks, one interception and one forced fumble in 16 games. Jacksonville turned down his fifth-year option for 2026 during the offseason, so Lloyd is now entering a contract year. He'll once again have some IDP upside in 2025, though Lloyd and Foyesade Oluokun could vulture each other's tackle totals a bit.
Lloyd appeared to struggle with the pace of the pro game in his rookie season, as he suffered both in coverage and with a very high rate of missed tackles. Whatever adjustments he made heading into 2023 paid dividends, as he turned into an elite run defender and improved both in coverage and tackling enough to stay on the field consistently in his sophomore campaign. He should team up with Foye Oluokun to make an elite duo in the middle of the Jaguars' defense in 2024.
Lloyd was drafted 27th overall by the Jaguars last year and enjoyed a productive rookie campaign with 115 tackles (59 solo), eight passes defensed, three interceptions and two fumble recoveries. The 24-year-old filled an every-down role early on but saw his playing time drop a bit down the stretch, though Jacksonville is likely looking for him to fill a three-down role in 2023. Lloyd could be a solid IDP option if he sees similar or an increase in playing time, though the fact he's playing next to Foye Oluokun -- who led the NFL in tackles last year -- could limit his ceiling.

Regression candidate
LBCarolina Panthers
June 21, 2026
Ben Solak of ESPN.com believes Lloyd's career-best 2025 season was a blip, and Solak expects Lloyd to regress in 2026.
ANALYSIS
Lloyd set career highs with 10 quarterback hits and five interceptions in 2025 under Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile, who lined Lloyd up at the line of scrimmage 16.4 percent of the time and allowed the linebacker to focus on playing fast in a narrower role. Lloyd will be expected to handle more duties as a three-down, off-ball linebacker after signing a three-year, $45 million contract with the Panthers, who don't boast as much talent around Lloyd at linebacker as Jacksonville did. Solak believes Lloyd's deal will join the growing list of recent big linebacker contracts that have aged poorly.
