Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Hamlin will start Week 1 against the Cardinals, the safety's start first since suffering from cardiac arrest in a Week 17 game against the Bengals in 2022, Nick Shook of NFL.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Hamlin will begin the season with the first-team defense following the offseason departures of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer. Hamlin was cleared ahead of the 2023 season and went on to appear in five regular-season games as a reserve and special teams contributor. He notably started 13 of 15 games as a second-year player in 2022 before suffering his on-field medical emergency.
