Barton signed a one-year deal with Denver this offseason after appearing in 13 games with the Commanders in 2023. Despite missing four games on IR with an ankle injury last season, the 27-year-old managed to have a solid campaign while recording 121 tackles (67 solo), one interception and one fumble recovery. Barton is a favorite to start at inside linebacker alongside Alex Singleton, and he'll look to make an immediate impact as a member of what should be a formidable linebacker corps.

Fighting for starting job
Barton is competing with Jonas Griffith for a starting middle linebacker role, Jeff Legwold of ESPN reports.
ANALYSIS
Barton has worked as a starter for the last two seasons with the Seahawks and Commanders and been extremely productive, tallying a combined 257 tackles, two sacks and three interceptions. Even so, he's not locked into a starting job heading into training camp. Griffith has played only 557 combined defensive snaps across his first two seasons in the NFL, so Barton presumably has the early edge in the competition.
