2026 Projections
2025 Fantasy Outlook
In his second year as a pro, Gonzalez recorded 59 total tackles, 11 pass defenses, two of which were interceptions, and a fumble recovery over 16 regular-season contests in 2024. The 2023 first-rounder is a rising star in a New England defense that now includes free-agent addition Carlton Davis, giving the team a nice one-two combo at outside cornerback. Read Past Outlooks
Enjoys another strong campaign
Gonzalez played in 14 regular-season contests (all starts) in 2025, recording 69 tackles and 10 defensed passes.
ANALYSIS
Gonzalez missed the first three games of the campaign due to a hamstring injury but was healthy enough to play the remainder of the season. He was a standout in pass coverage, earning his first career Pro Bowl nod. Gonzalez also shined in the postseason, notching 19 tackles (including 1.0 sacks) and seven defensed passes (including an interception) along with a forced fumble across four contests. He'll be in the final year of his rookie contract in 2026, but given his standout play the past two years, it wouldn't be surprising if New England looks to ink him to an extension.

A torn labrum in his shoulder limited Gonzalez to four regular-season games as a rookie, but now that the No. 17 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is back in action, he's slated to claim a key role in New England's secondary this coming season. Along with Jonathan Jones and Marcus Jones, Gonzalez forms the nucleus of the team's cornerback group, and provided he can stay healthy, the Oregon product will have an opportunity to achieve IDP relevance in his second campaign as a pro.

Contract potential offseason issue
Mike Reiss of ESPN.com suggests how Gonzalez handles his contract situation is a key issue for the Patriots this offseason.
ANALYSIS
Gonzalez's fifth-year option for 2027 is eligible to be picked up this spring, but Reiss raises the legitimate question of whether Gonzalez and his agent will push for a long-term extension. Reiss points out Gonzalez's Super Bowl LX performance, which consisted of four tackles and three key pass breakups, offered a tangible reminder of how important he is to the Patriots defense and deserving of a lucrative payday on his second NFL contract.
