2026 Fantasy Outlook
A 2023 fourth-round pick, Ryland lasted just one miserable season in New England before rebounding strong for the Cardinals in 2024 (28-of-32 on FGs, 26-of-27 on PATs). Last year fell somewhere in between his first two seasons, with Ryland making 25 of 33 field-goal attempts (75.8 percent) and all 36 of his PATs. All but one of his misses came from 40-plus yards, so the Cardinals are giving him another shot this summer in a job battle with former Rams kicker Joshua Karty. The winner of the competition probably won't get enough volume to generate fantasy interest. Read Past Outlooks
Fellow kicker let go
Ryland is the only kicker on the Cardinals' roster after Joshua Karty was waived Thursday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Ryland was the Cardinals' kicker for all 17 games last season en route to making 25 of 33 field-goal attempts and all 36 of his extra-point tries. Karty was claimed off waivers from the Rams late last season, but he wasn't made active by Arizona down the stretch. In any case, Thursday's move eliminates what could have been a job battle this summer, with Ryland's fantasy upside in 2026 linked to how well the team's offense clicks with veteran signal-caller Jacoby Brissett at the helm.

2023
Ryland lasted just one year with the Patriots after they picked him in the fourth round of the 2023 Draft, making just 16 of 25 field-goal attempts as a rookie. The Cardinals gave him a shot anyway after long-time kicker Matt Prater suffered a knee injury, and Ryland responded by making 87.5 percent of FGAs and 96.3 percent of PATs, missing five kicks in 13 games. All four FG misses came from 40-49 yards, whereas he went 4-of-4 from 50-plus. Leg strength has never been a concern, and it looks like the Cardinals will ride with Ryland, having yet to re-sign Prater this offseason.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could fill in for Prater in Week 5
Ryland could get a chance to kick for the Cardinals in Week 5 against the 49ers, as he signed with Arizona's practice squad Wednesday while Matt Prater didn't practice due to a knee injury, per Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site.
ANALYSIS
Prater still has a few days to recover, but if he remains unavailable due to the knee injury, Ryland would be in line to be elevated to the active roster before Sunday's game against the 49ers. Ryland was a fourth-round pick of the Patriots in the 2023 NFL Draft, but the team quickly lost patience with the young kicker after he made only 16 of 25 field-goal attempts as a rookie.
