2025 Fantasy Outlook
Lazard is entering the third season of a four-year, $44 million contract, albeit after taking a pay cut to stick with the Jets. The first year of the deal was a disaster, with Lazard even being a healthy scratch at one point, but he rebounded in 2024 and scored six touchdowns in 12 games. He didn't do a ton apart from the TDs, especially after the Jets traded for WR Davante Adams, averaging 3.2 targets over the final five weeks of the season (when Lazard, Adams and Garrett Wilson all were healthy). Lazard has a chance to compete for the No. 2 WR job this summer after Adams left for Los Angeles, but the job is unlikely to entail a large number of targets in an offense with Justin Fields at quarterback. There's also the matter of Lazard turning 30 before the end of the season, and the fact he's never enjoyed much success catching passes from a quarterback besides Aaron Rodgers. Anything more than four or five targets per game would be a major surprise. Read Past Outlooks

Parting ways with Jets
The Jets are set to waive Lazard on Tuesday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
According to Cimini, the Jets are moving on from Lazard in a mutual decision, as the veteran wideout had previously asked to be let go. After accepting an $8.5 million pay cut in the offseason, Lazard is under contract at a palatable $1.75 million base salary for 2025, but it's unclear if any team would want to put in a waiver claim for him and assume the money remaining on his deal. The 30-year-old was already a major disappointment for the Jets in the first two seasons of the four-year, $44 million deal he signed in March 2023, and he's taken an even bigger step back statistically in 2025. Lazard had produced a lowly 10-70-1 receiving line on 18 targets in 10 appearances, and he had been a healthy inactive back in Week 11. With three games left in a non-contending season, the Jets were eager to open up more opportunities for their younger wide receivers rather than continuing to give Lazard reps.

Lazard signed with the Jets in 2023 to play with Aaron Rodgers. With Rodgers playing just three snaps all season, Lazard had his worst season since he started playing regular snaps in 2019. Through the first five games, the receiver wasn’t terrible. During that time, Lazard averaged 2.6 receptions and 40 yards. Unfortunately, he was an afterthought in the offense over his last nine games. In that final stretch, Lazard caught a total of 10 passes for 109 yards. After the Jets signed Mike Williams in free agency, Lazard may need a starting receiver to miss time to see significant snaps.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Likely to make Jets' roster
Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic views Lazard as a safe bet to make the Jets' 53-man roster.
ANALYSIS
Rosenblatt stopped short of declaring Lazard a roster lock, but the Jets' lack of established options at wide receiver coupled with Lazard's blocking prowess should allow him to secure a depth role in 2025. Lazard has firmly dropped behind Josh Reynolds in the pecking order, though, so Reynolds will likely occupy the starting spot opposite Garrett Wilson on the outside.
