FantasyAces Football: Week 3 Value Picks

This article is part of our FantasyAces Football series.

Daily fantasy football is back, and FantasyAces is ready to continue the momentum from a huge Week 2. Not sure how to play at Fantasy Aces? We are here to help. Each week, RotoWire will offer advice on who to start and give you that extra edge in your pursuit of real cash prizes.

QUARTERBACK

Jameis Winston, $5,500 vs. HOU

Winston is one of the few quarterbacks who has scored two touchdowns in each game this season. In Week 1, he threw for 210 and two touchdowns and then in Week 2 he threw for 207 and a touchdown, while running for another. Winston averages 18.48 fantasy points per game on FantasyAces, which is more than three times his salary in terms of value. Winston faces a Texans defense this week that has struggled against opposing quarterbacks so far this season. The Texans have allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season, allowing Alex Smith and Cam Newton each to surpass 20 fantasy points. Expect that to become three games in a row as Winston is likely to get a healthy Mike Evans back and involved in Week 3, adding to his fantasy value.

Nick Foles, $5,900 vs. PIT

Foles will be an under-the-radar option each week this season, considering his lack of weapons and the fact that users like to spend on quarterbacks on FantasyAces. In Week 3, if you choose to save money at quarterback, Foles makes for a solid play in a good matchup. The Rams face the Steelers, who have allowed the most fantasy points through the air so far this year. Tom Brady threw for four touchdowns in Week 1 and Colin Kaepernick notched nearly 30 fantasy points in Week 2. The Steelers are expected to be favored, so the Rams are likely to throw the ball a lot, which gives Foles the game script he needs to be a solid fantasy option. Quietly, Foles has three touchdowns this season against the Seahawks and the Redskins. The Seahawks feature one of the better defenses in the NFL, and the Redskins have been much improved. With a better matchup in Week 3, Foles could be a top value play at quarterback.

Other Options: Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. PHI

RUNNING BACK

Devonta Freeman, $4,500 vs. DAL

Freeman's value is contingent on the health of Tevin Coleman (ribs). But with Coleman likely out, Freeman will see the bulk of the work at running back for the Falcons. The Cowboys stuffed the Eagles' running game in Week 2, but the Eagles' offensive line was to blame. The Falcons' offensive line is much improved this season, so Freeman's price and role makes him a solid cheap option at running back. Freeman and rookie Terron Ward will be the only two backs on the Falcons' radar for carries Sunday, which means Freeman will see passing downs as well. The Cowboys have allowed opposing running backs to catch 13 passes on 15 targets this season, so expect Freeman's value in the passing game to take him over the top this week.

LeGarrette Blount, $4,100 vs. JAC

Here we go again with the Patriots' running game. Is it Dion Lewis? Is this week Blount's time to shine? In Week 1, Blount was suspended so the Patriots were focused on the short passing game. In Week 2, the Pats faced an incredible front seven in the Bills, so Lewis was featured and Tom Brady threw 59 passes. Week 3 could be the Blount game against the Jaguars, whose front seven does not rival the Bills, and the game script is heavily favoring the Patriots' running game as the Pats will be favored. Jacksonville has been good against the run so far this season, but with the Patriots' likely to run often, this is likely to be the Blount game. That said, it is Bill Belichick and the Patriots offense, so Blount should be a GPP-only play because if he isn't a part of the gameplan early, he is unlikely to see many touches all game. It's hard to trust a Patriots' running back in cash with other options available.

Other Options: Doug Martin vs. HOU; T.J. Yeldon vs. NE

WIDE RECEIVER

James Jones, $4,500 vs. KC

Jones has seen seven targets this season in two games. He has caught five and has scored on three. Jones has 28.5 FantasyAces points on seven targets, which is an absurd four fantasy points per target. Aaron Rodgers has done wonders for the Packers' receiver and that should continue in Week 3 against the Chiefs, who have allowed the most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season. Jones is the third option for the Packers, which likely means he will line up against Marcus Cooper. Cooper is one of the main reasons the Chiefs rank last in fantasy points allowed to receivers, and last season he was one of the top cornerbacks to target against. With Jones' price still low at just $4,500, he makes for a cheap option to stack with Rodgers in a tournament.

Doug Baldwin, $4,400 vs. CHI

Baldwin might be the only wide receiver worth rostering on the Seahawks, and in Week 3 he gets one of the best matchups in the NFL as the Bears have allowed seven touchdown receptions to wide receivers already this season. Baldwin has 17 targets in two games, with eight in Week 2 and nine in Week 1. He has caught seven passes for 127 yards. Baldwin will match up against Kyle Fuller this week, which is an excellent matchup for the Seattle wide receiver. Before injuring his hand last season, Fuller was one of the better young cornerbacks in the NFL, but since then, and so far this season, he has been one of the worst. He has allowed a few touchdowns this season, and in Week 2 Larry Fitzgerald scored three times. With Baldwin's excellent matchup and price, he is a solid option in all contests.

Other Options: Kendall Wright vs. IND; Terrance Williams vs. ATL

TIGHT END

Jared Cook, $4,250 vs. PIT

So far in two games with Foles, Jared Cook has 13 targets, 10 catches and 132 yards. Foles has had a history with tight ends, throwing to Brent Celek and Zach Ertz a lot in his time with Philadelphia. It seems that has carried over to the Rams, with Cooks being a primary target. Cooks faces the Steelers in Week 3, who have allowed 14 catches for 178 yards and four touchdowns to tight ends this season (three to Rob Gronkowski). Cook will be targeted heavily again, but he will be minimally owned on FantasyAces, so consider him if you have Foles for a very cheap stack.

Other Options: Gavin Escobar vs. ATL

Don't forget to keep an eye on the NFL inactive list. With the injury report changing all the time, a lot could happen before Sunday.
