The fourth day of the Summit 6 wrapped up the lower brackets. Three more teams were eliminated, and the top three of the tournament was decided.
The first series of the day was between Evil Geniuses and Team NP. In the first game, Evil Geniuses got off to a massive early lead. Ludwig "zai" Wåhlberg's jungle Venomancer gave Evil Geniuses a huge advantage in the first 10 minutes of the game, and they were able to snowball that lead into a quick 19 minute win. NP attempted to put up a fight with Warlock, Tidehunter and Chen, but Evil Geniuses were too far ahead and picked NP apart before they could take a good team fight. The second game was much more even. Both teams went for relatively standard drafts and comfort heroes, and neither got completely destroyed in their lanes. It came down to mid-game rotations and plays, and Arif "MSS" Anwar was playing extremely well for NP on his Beastmaster. The vision from his Call Hawk let NP take extremely favorable fights, and as long as they either killed Evil Geniuses' Warlock or dealt with the Chaotic Offering quickly, NP came out on top. Evil Geniuses' team was still very powerful, especially once they got to the late game with a farmed Artour "Arteezy" Babaev Morphling. After taking two lanes of barracks around 33 minutes, NP lost a disastrous fight and Evil Geniuses were able to even up the game. Despite playing a great up until that point, NP didn't have an answer to the super-farmed Morphling and Outworld Devourer. In a loss that will give Cloud9 fans flashbacks, NP gave up the game and lost the series. NP finishes in 5th-6th place, while Evil Geniuses advanced to the next round.
Wings and Digital Chaos kicked off the second series of the day. In Game 1, Wings went for a very powerful early and mid-game lineup with Luna, Mirana and Warlock. They absolutely ran over Digital Chaos, who had drafted both a Morphling and a Slark. This extremely greedy drafting was topped off with a Rubick Beastmaster and Undying, which meant Digital Chaos needed at least 20 or more minutes to even think about contesting fights. Wings didn't give them any time at all, finishing up Game 1 in 22 minutes. Game 2 was much more epic, with control changing hands multiple times until Wings finally claimed victory. Despite lasting for over an hour, this was an action packed game with a very close 45-49 kill score in favor of Wings. Digital Chaos managed to pull off some spectacular Dark Seer Sven combinations, but Wings' superior teamwork and execution won out in the end. Digital Chaos joined NP among the teams eliminated Saturday, and Wings moved on to face Evil Geniuses for the remaining lower bracket final spot.
The final series of the night pitted Evil Geniuses vs. Wings to decide who would face up against OG in the lower bracket final. Evil Geniuses went for their recently popularized jungle Venomancer on zai again, but it didn't go nearly as well as Evil Geniuses were used to. Wings were very prepared, and despite Evil Geniuses' lineup being well equipped to pressure them early, Chu "Shadow" Zeyu's Anti-Mage and Zhou "Blink" Yang' Invoker were able to earn plenty of farm. Wings managed to finish up another very quick Game 1, besting Evil Geniuses in 24 minutes. In Game 2 it was Arteezy's turn to have a nice Anti-Mage game. Wings went for an offlane Elder Titan pick, but he wasn't able to get much done in lane against Arteezy. zai also decided to start the game in bottom lane helping out Saahil "Universe" Arora' Beastmaster. This decision was a critical part of Evil Geniuses' win in Game 2, since it shut down Shadow's Faceless Void. After winning both side lanes, it took Evil Geniuses a bit longer to finish out the game, but they were still decidedly in control all game. Both teams went for relatively standard well rounded lineups in Game 3. Wings took Luna, Sniper, Axe, Kunkka and Warlock against Evil Geniuses' Morphling, Juggernaut, Batrider, Rubick and Undying. Wings didn't do enough to shut down Arteezy's Morphling, and he was allowed to get a very timely Linken's Sphere and Ethereal Blade. Fighting was extremely difficult for Wings, even with a Warlock. In addition to Arteezy's Morphling, Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan had a nice game on his mid lane Juggernaut. Evil Geniuses were able to close out the series on the back of a beyond godlike 12/0/15 Arteezy Morphling. Wings end their run in fourth place, their first non-first place LAN finish since the Nanyang Championships season 2 in July. Evil Geniuses moves on to face OG tomorrow for a chance to battle Virtus Pro in the grand final.
