The jungle is in it's healthiest fantasy state since I've started playing. With the meta shifting to tanky top laners, carry focused champions have become the norm in the jungle. This suits us well for fantasy points and the players who are aggressive-oriented benefit greatly from the current meta. I used to say you could wait on jungle, but now it bodes well to get one of the top options as the difference between the top and middle junglers is pretty wide.Tier 1 (in alphabetical order): Reignover, Trick
Player | Team | Points Per Game* | Kills | Deaths | Assists |
Reignover | Immortals | 20.97 | 51 | 26 | 166 |
Trick | G2 | 20.64 | 60 | 34 | 151 |
* Points Per Game are based on the Fantasy LCS scoring system found: http://fantasy.na.lolesports.com/en-US
The two best junglers after last split. Reignover dominated the entire regular season for Immortals after a fantastic (get it?) performance with Fnatic in 2015. He led the LCS in assists by 15 and was fourth in kills. His early game pathing is probably the best in the LCS and there is no reason to think a drop off is coming from Reignover or Immortals.
Trick came out of nowhere, so much so that you could pick him up on waivers in the early weeks of your leagues. If you were able to do so you benefited from the Korean junglers incredible Spring Split. He led the LCS in kills while finding himself second in assists among junglers. His aggressive style fit the meta well, often playing Graves and helping to carry from the jungle. G2 have buffed up their lineup with the addition of Zven and Mithy, with Trick being a huge benefactor from the additions.
Tier 2: Dardoch, Jankos, Xmithie
Player | Team | Points Per Game | Kills | Deaths | Assists |
Dardoch | Team Liquid | 18.68 | 54 | 32 | 127 |
Jankos | H2K | 18.85 | 52 | 32 | 142 |
Xmithie | CLG | 14.44 | 25 | 30 | 125 |
Jankos and Dardoch are not far behind the top two on a per-game rate. Both fit into the meta by being aggressive junglers, finishing third and second in kills and third and sixth in assists respectively. Jankos in particular is often involved in first bloods for H2K. With both remaining on good teams, I would expect similar results this split with the possibility to be even better.
Xmithie is not as sexy as the first four players I've talked about, but CLG should be a top team in NA once again. Xmithie is not as carry oriented, but he finished seventh in assists during the Spring Split. With the shift to best-of-threes in NA this split, I think this further helps Xmithie's case as CLG are one of the best teams in the league when it comes to best-of-series.
Tier 3: Amazing, Meteos, Santorin, Spirit, Svenskeren
Player | Team | Points Per Game | Kills | Deaths | Assists |
Amazing | Origen | 12.88 | 36 | 41 | 102 |
Meteos | Cloud9 | N/A* | N/A | N/A | N/A |
Santorin | NRG | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A |
Spirit | Fnatic | 13.69 | 38 | 39 | 103 |
Svenskeren | TSM | 12.87 | 36 | 61 | 109 |
* N/A represents a new player to the LCS this split, most likely from a Challenger Series team.
This group includes a bunch of veteran players who I would all list as steady if not exciting. They lack the carry potential of the top two tiers but should provide adequate value if you miss out on the top options. Amazing, Spirit, and Svenskeren all had up-and-down Spring Splits but all finished with over 100 assists. My favorite pick of the three would be Spirit, as I think Fnatic's addition of Yellowstar will help the team look a bit more like the 2015 version.
Meteos and Santorin make their returns to the LCS and both present moderate upside. Santorin has a higher ceiling in my opinion after finishing the 2015 Spring Split as the top jungler in the LCS. I don't expect him to finish at the top of the current jungle list, but a top five finish isn't out of the question if NRG can make strides as a team. Meteos is worth waiting on in drafts and should be viewed as an assist heavy jungler rather than a carry. Cloud9 should be near the top of the standings, but at times they don't produce the best fantasy scoring games.
Tier 4: Hard, Mightybear, Move, Trashy
Player | Team | Points Per Game | Kills | Deaths | Assists |
Hard | Echo Fox | 11.66 | 15 | 25 | 77 |
Mightybear | Vitality | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A |
Move | UoL | N/A | N/A | N/A | N/A |
Trashy | Splyce | 8.84 | 26 | 36 | 67 |
If you're forced to pick a starter from this tier I'd take a shot on Mightybear or Move. Move was actually a very good player in 2015 with Gravity in the NA LCS. Known for his heavy vision presence he was often able to read the map well and set up ganks for his laners. Both players play for good teams and should be middle of the pack junglers.
Trashy and Hard play for average teams and are average players. Neither really present huge upside so hopefully you are able to fill your jungle role before needing to choose between them.
