This article is part of our FGC series.
While CEO 2018 has come and gone, there's one last thing we need to talk about before officially close the book on this tournament.
Player entrances.
With CEO maintaining its wrestling theme, the entrances have always provided some of the hypest moments of all and this year was no different. What follows is the only ranking you'll ever need on the best entrances at this year's tournament.
Honorable mention: Fortnite meets FGC
While not the most creative entrance of all, you've got to give Hyungsuk "Verloren" Kong credit for the relevancy of chosen entrance. Fortnite is at the peak of popularity and he just brought some of that into the FGC with this entrance.
Honorable mention: Bayonetta cosplay to the fullest extent
You have to give credit to Zack "CaptainZack" Lauth for really committing to the craft on this one. From the fans, to the mask, to the swag, he had Bayonetta down. This entrance was arguably better than my #5 on this list, but I just can't stand how strong Bayonetta is right now so this one is stuck as an honorable mention.
5. HOOK. GANG. GOD.
I'll admit, this one might be kind of basic. But the sheer audacity that Eduardo "HookGangGod" Hook had to just come out with no music and like 12 other pro players just chanting his name is godlike to me. The man even had a fuddy duddy looking cape that was supposed to make him look like Piccolo. The cocky meets low-budget nature of this entrance makes it one of the best we saw on Sunday.
4. R. Mika with the chair shot!
3
Du "NuckleDu" Dang may not be sponsored at the moment, but the man sure knows how to make an entrance. Not only did he come out with a wad of cash to throw out in the audience, but he had an R. Mika cosplayer walk down with him and "smack" someone in the face with a chair. NuckleDu might been in a bit of a rough patch competitively speaking these days, but he's still just as flippant as ever.
3. BY GAWD IT'S EVOLUTION
UYU is the best org in the FGC, don't @ me. Just look at these guys. You got the boy Keenan "Kizzie Kay" Kizzie over there with the sunglasses and fisherman's hat. You got Li-Wei "Oil King" Lin and the shortest shorts you'll ever see in the FGC (well, until our #1 entrant on this list). You got Julian "Beautifuldue" Franco with a perfect Randy Orton pose. And finally you got the god Jeon "JeonDDing" Sang-hyeon smiling and waving and completely throwing off the bad boy vibe the Evolution is supposed to stand for. The man's arms are out of this world, though, so you can't really fault this one at all.
2. CHIAOTZU NOOOOOO
Everything about this is just perfect. From Vineeth "ApologyMan" Meka with the Tien cosplay all the way down to the third eye to Luis "Teemo" Gomez and his selfless Chiaotzu cosplay to Ryota "Kazunoko" Inoue playing along and keeling over while giving us the fan-favorite Yamcha meme. This right here is what makes me love Dragon Ball FighterZ so much. The lore that comes through in almost every single match is bar none. Then when you factor in the players buying into it and giving us stuff like this? It's a thing of beauty. This definitely would have been the best entrance of the weekend if not for what you're about to see next.
1. Val Venis in the flesh (literally), y'all
As much as I love myself some Dragon Ball FighterZ, Lee "INFILTRATION" Seon-woo takes the cake with this entrance. Taking one of the trademark examples of classic WWF and bringing it to the FGC is just brilliant. Especially when it's coming from a guy like INFILTRATION who is usually an incredible stoic and fierce competitor. The pure commitment to this entrance from the towel to the gyrating to hiking up his shorts, the man did it all.
