After doling out eight million dollars in prize money during the Summer Skirmish Series, Epic Games has officially detailed the upcoming $10,000,000 Fall Skirmish Series.
Running six weeks and culminating at Twitchcon in San Jose, California on October 26-28, the Fall Skirmish will have some major differences right up front. The Fall Skirmish will see players compete in both Competitive and Entertainment formats. The Competitive formats will be the high-level competition that fans know and love. The Entertainment formats, however, will be something entirely new. Consisting of "white-knuckle ATK races, masterful golf outings, [and] mini-games," these events will allow the Fall Skirmish to stick with Fortnite's nature of being loose and fun.
In addition to the new formats, Epic is introducing a team component to the Fall Skirmish. As it will break the players up into "themed teams" throughout the entirety of the event. As the players compete in both the Competitive and Entertainment formats, they will earn points for their respective teams based on their performance each week.
More information on the format for Week 1, as well as the announcement of teams, will be detailed by Epic in a follow-up blog next week.
In addition to the Fall Skirmish, Epic revealed that Showdown Royale will start in October and will use an in-game tournament system that gives everyone a chance to earn prizes in the future.
With $92 million left for Epic to give out during the first season, competitive Fortnite will only pick up steam from here on.
