V5 vs. EDG
A shocking outcome of this split is EDG not making playoffs in four years of competitive play. EDG have been all over the place, mixing the top laner and jungler in a split that matters a lot to get into worlds. EDG having no stability ruined their chance to book their tickets to worlds, and now they are just playing freely, which is a dangerous thing in the LPL as we have saw over the last few games. V5 are statistically better than EDG in every category, and they smashed JDG after Game 1 through snowballing in the early game. I do think that JDG made a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes against V5, and they capitalized on the over-extension in team fights. V5 deserve to be the heavy favorites here, but on a two-game slate I don't mind going some EDG exposure because they have shown how good their early game can be when they draft correctly and Scout starts to be more proactive around the map after the laning phase. EDG have nothing to play for and I can see them draft a full engage comp and fight V5 early to stop them from getting a huge gold lead after 15 minutes, but just like BLG ,their late game is the scary part. This should be a bloody game, and if EDG can force a Game 3 or even win, they have the highest upside on the slate.
Prediction: V5 2-1
WE vs. OMG
I don't know why OMG went back to Smlz after Eric had a great performance in his debut, but they are going back to Eric and this move is the best move OMG can make at this point. Curse has been playing really well this split trying to carry games, and his KP% and damage is among the top-five for top laners. And even though the sample size is small, there was a huge difference in how Curse approached team fights when Eric was in. OMG were able to be more aggressive in the early game with Eric, and we know that they can play in the late game as well. WE relies heavily on Beishang to get them through the early game, but now they are going against a team that likes to play into the late game and I can see them struggling early with how Eric plays the lane in the early stages. OMG have a slightly better first blood rate at 50 percent, while being about even on first-to-three turrets with WE. Most team metrics are really similar, but we have to factor in that Smlz played every game besides one. I believe that with Eric in they are going to have a new look and build on their early game advantage and beat WE.
Prediction: OMG 2-1
