SEA vs. ATL
We're on to championship Sunday in Call of Duty. Not many would have guessed the Surge would be included in that conversation, as the Seattle team locked in their first semifinal appearance after yet another win over Los Angeles Guerrillas late Saturday night, their fourth over the team this season.
Considering they've lost every other Call of Duty World League series in 2020 to a team not named "Guerrillas" though, I'm a bit concerned the run may end here. The Surge's Search and Destroy has improved drastically since the last time we saw them on stage, but it's still a team that relies heavily on Octane to carry the offensive burden. He certainly put together a solid performance against the Empire, finishing with a 1.20 KD and a hefty chunk of Hardpoint time -- numbers that I think could be absolutely repeatable against a FaZe roster that shocking lost both its Hardpoints to an inferior New York Subliners on Saturday.
Simp is the highest-priced player ($9,200), but he's probably my least favorite option of the guys $8,600 or higher. There's nothing wrong with him as a player -- he's still averaging close to 150 engages a series which is more than a healthy figure -- but you can do so much more with your lineup by piling together a bunch of other cheaper options from this matchup, and then targeting a

The majority of the salaries on DraftKings indicate CHI/DAL will be the highest-scoring game of the two, but at least from a GPP perspective, it might be a shrewd approach to get at least two, if not three players from ATL/SEA players. Remember, the Huntsmen get a significant notoriety boost when it comes to play percentages from DFS users, and I think there's a good shot this series goes at least four games, which should balance out any potential scoring differences between the two contests. It's a gamble, but oftentimes in DFS it's all about zigging when someone else zags.
Prediction: ATL 3-1
SEA Players to Target: Octane ($8,400), Apathy ($7,400)
ATL Players to Target: Cellium ($8,200), Abezy ($7,200), Team FaZe ($2,800)
CHI vs. DAL
I have a real hard time trying to guess how this contest will go. The Huntsmen have been one of the best teams in the CWL to date, but haven't exactly looked like world beaters, including their two series wins Saturday. I'm not sure if it's online play, or other lineups simply doing better given the circumstances, but it's making it hard to identify what a possible outcome could be. Dallas have beaten who they were supposed to beat thus far, but they've looked shaky at times too.
That being said, there's too much value available across the board to just ignore this contest completely, even though from an ownership perspective, I wish I could. Shotzzy ($8,600) was the absolute star on Day 1, but fell back to "relatively" equal footing with the rest of his slaying peers Saturday. He's not going to drop a near 2.00 KD anytime soon, but he's too hot of a hand and too integral of a piece for the Empire to keep him off my lineup, particular when he's so cheap relative to the other players near his DK scoring range.
Clayster's also at an absurdly low price when you consider he always seems to play better in big matchups. He's a threat to possibly see a bit lower KD numbers than he's put together throughout the weekend's tournament, but for $7,600, his Hardpoint/Domination specific stats essentially make him a must play. Besides Scump, there is not a more recognizable name in Call of Duty, so understand you'll be seeing some insane ownership percentages with Clayster. I just don't think you can afford to avoid the chalk in this scenario. A natural pivot from the Empire veteran could be his teammate Huke, who has one of the highest overall point averages on DraftKings, but has dropped close to $1,600 in price for reasons I can't really explain. My guess is that the price makers want to tempt you with a stars/scrubs lineup of $9,000-plus guys, when in reality, you could put a roster of sub $8,000 players together across these two series and be just as successful, if not more.
Otherwise, it's your pick of the litter when it comes to the rest of the top slayers in this matchup. I can't imagine we see such high Hardpoint times for Arcitys again in the future, but he's basically a walking 100-plus DK points which is nothing to scoff at. Same goes for Envoy, who I think has the higher-scoring potential of the two top-priced guys, but also, the lower floor.
Prediction: DAL 3-2
CHI Players to Target: Arcitys ($9,000), Envoy ($8,800)
DAL Players to Target: Shotzyy ($8,600), Clayster ($7,600), Huke ($7,600)
