2022 Fantasy Outlook
Petras is coming off a disappointing 2021 season for both himself as well as the largely stagnant offense around him. Petras ranked near the bottom of the Big Ten’s starting quarterbacks in most major statistical categories last season, including passing yards per game (156.7), completion percentage (57.3), yards per attempt (6.5) and passing touchdowns (10). Petras figures to operate in a similarly stale offensive scheme in 2022, but he will benefit from a healthy and more experienced offensive line combined with a largely returning corps of skill players (both of which should help curtail his abysmal 24 sacks taken and nine interceptions from last season). Still, the senior signal-caller’s overall production – and permanent job security – does not figure to improve much unless he makes significant improvements in his play this offseason.
