Gets the bulk of time under center
November 18, 2024
Johnson completed 9 of 19 passes for 106 yards and one interception during Saturday's 28-0 loss against Air Force. He also had 13 rushes for 22 yards.
ANALYSIS
Johnson saw most of the time under center with Ben Gulbranson (undisclosed) not available, but the freshman did not take advantage of it. Johnson is seeing more time than the other quarterback, Gevani McCoy who only saw a few plays under center. McCoy started against Air Force but was quickly pulled. If Gulbranson does not start in the next game against Washington State (Nov.23), Johnson could excel against a Cougars pass defense that is in the bottom quarter in the nation.
