2023 Fantasy Outlook
Well-travelled Ali Jennings will hope to carry small school success to his third collegiate stop. Following two quiet seasons at West Virginia, Jennings popped for Old Dominion, posting 116 catches on 191 targets, 2,025 yards and 14 touchdowns across his last two seasons. Jennings clearly has field stretching ability as evident by his 10.6 yards per target, but will that translate in the ACC across the entire season? In a bubble, the answer is yes, as he went for 12 grabs, 209 yards and a score against Virginia Tech and Virginia last year. He’s got ample size at 6-foot-2, and faces minimal competition atop the Hokies depth chart in 2023, as last year’s leading receiver, Kaleb Smith, is no longer in Blacksburg. But Smith had a mere 37 grabs last season, speaking to the Hokies’ passing game woes. Quarterback Grant Wells had just a 9:9 TD:INT ratio and the Hokies attack tends to be on the conservative side. Their offensive line also allowed 30 sacks in 2022, which won’t afford Jennings deep opportunities if that doesn’t improve. Talent and opportunity are there for Jennings, but there are enough questions within the offense to make matching his ODU production a tall ask.
