2024 Tournament PreviewLate-season road bumps resulted in Kansas failing to win at least a share of the Big 12 regular season for the second time since 2004. Injuries played a part, as 6-7 senior guard Kevin McCullar (18.3 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 4.1 apg) missed six of the last 12 games with a knee injury, and he was ruled out for the entire tournament Tuesday night. Senior Hunter Dickinson (18.0 ppg, 10.8 rpg), a 7-1 center with 16 double-doubles, joined him on the sideline with a shoulder injury in Kansas' one-and-done conference tourney appearance. At least Dickinson should be back, but the Jayhawks' long-term outlook diminishes significantly with the absence of McCullar, their leading scorer. While depth is a concern, Kansas ranks 10th in defensive efficiency, per KenPom. Dickinson defends the paint with 6-7 junior K.J. Adams (12.4 ppg, 4.5 rpg), as the Jayhawks rank 15th in 2-point defense. With seven Quad 1 wins, Kansas can play with anyone when healthy, but that won't be the case the rest of the way out.
