ANALYSIS
After undergoing surgery Dec. 17 to repair a lateral meniscus tear in his left knee, McCain was labeled as out indefinitely. Following a checkup earlier Friday with the surgeon who performed the surgery, McCain was deemed to be progressing well in his recovery, but the 76ers are officially closing the door on his rookie season. Before suffering the knee injury, McCain had emerged as a frontrunner for NBA Rookie of the Year honors after averaging 15.3 points, 2.6 assists, 2.4 rebounds, 2.2 three-pointers and 0.7 steals across 25.7 minutes per game in 23 appearances (eight starts). McCain will now turn his focus to completing his lengthy rehab and recovery process ahead of the 2025-26 campaign.
