Taurean Prince

Taurean Waller-Prince was born in 1994 in San Marcos, Texas. He is the son of Anthony and Tamiyko Prince. Prince was raised in Texas and played three years of high school ball at Earl Warren High School in San Antonio. He originally chose to play college ball at LIU-Brooklyn, but a coaching change there reopened his recruiting period and he switched to Baylor. In 2014, Prince was named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll. And while at Baylor, he was also a member of the US Men's National Basketball Team that won the bronze medal at the 2015 Pan American Games. He only appeared in 24 games as a freshman off the bench and provided just 3.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in relief of Cory Jefferson. The 6-7 forward only started two games as a sophomore, but pushed his scoring average to 6.2 points. It was not until his junior season that Prince received significant playing time and the forward rewarded coach Scott Drew with 13.9 points and 5.6 rebounds per contest. He hit a career-high 39.5 percent of his 3-pointers and helped the Bears advance to the NCAA Tournament. Prince had his best game of the season in the first-round loss to Georgia State. He went for 18 points and 15 rebounds off the Bear bench. The Texas native became a starter as a senior and led the squad with 15.9 points per game, in addition to 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per contest. In the NCAA Tournament, Prince had 28 points in Baylor's first-round loss to Yale. After his senior season, Prince was named as an All-Big 12 selection, First Team by the league's coaches and Second Team by the media.
