2025 Fantasy Outlook
During Washington's first full season in Dallas, he averaged 14.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks in 32.2 minutes across 57 regular-season appearances. On a per-game basis, that resulted in a ninth-round finish in nine-category leagues, making him a serviceable mid-to-late round fantasy asset. He shot 38.1 percent from beyond the arc for the second-highest mark of his career, and he saw plenty of usage with the Mavericks dealing with a ton of injuries and personnel changes due to the Luka Doncic trade that saw Anthony Davis arrive in town. Things are certainly much more complicated heading into 2025-26. Armed with the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Mavericks quieted an uneasy fanbase by selecting Cooper Flagg, considered by many to be a generational player. Flagg is penciled in to start at small forward, while Anthony Davis will shift to the four to allow Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively to hold down the fort at center. Washington's minutes and usage will inevitably take a hit, though he's likely to be a sixth man for the team, which could keep his minutes in the 20s. There are worse players to take with a late-round pick, but Washington's ceiling isn't nearly as high in 2025-26. Read Past Outlooks
In danger of losing minutes?
Washington (elbow) could be in danger of losing minutes during the 2026-27 campaign, especially if Morez Johnson and Tobi Lawal develop faster than anticipated.
ANALYSIS
Washington agreed to a four-year extension in Sept. 2025 and is currently committed to the Mavericks for the next four seasons. The 27-year-old averaged 14.2 points in 2025-26, his second-highest mark since entering the league. However, despite his scoring contributions, he logged only 56 games, one fewer than he played during the 2024-25 campaign. While durability is a concern, Washington still has plenty to offer, considering he can play on both ends of the floor while shifting to multiple positions during a given contest. The Mavericks added Johnson and Lawal in the 2026 NBA Draft. Although those players might not be an immediate threat to claim a spot in the starting lineup, Washington could find himself coming off the bench regularly at some point in the upcoming season, ultimately resulting in a decline in production. Of course, that is assuming he remains in Dallas.

Washington went from playing for a struggling Hornets team to reaching the NBA Finals with the Mavericks after a mid-season trade before the February deadline. Washington performed well for Dallas, averaging 11.7 points, 6.2 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.2 steals in 32.2 minutes during the regular season, and he was even better in the playoffs, where he notched 13.0 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.5 steals-plus-blocks per game. However, he shot only 42.7 percent from the field and 34.8 percent from three-point range. Washington's starting role in the Mavericks' frontcourt is not under any threat, but don't expect him to be a go-to player on offense, as Dallas will probably rely on Luka Doncic, Kyrie Irving and Klay Thompson to contribute in the scoring column. Washington should average double-digit points again and have a decent upside as a forward option across all formats. Still, he seems to be a complementary piece rather than a dominant fantasy performer. Washington should have a decent floor for the forward position, particularly due to his defensive contributions. However, he doesn't have a lot of upside in an offensive scheme where he'll play a secondary role.

Could leave Dallas this summer
Washington is one of the players who could leave the Mavericks via trade in the offseason, according to Marc Stein of The Stein Line.
ANALYSIS
The Mavericks aren't keen on parting ways with Kyrie Irving, who's recovering from a knee injury, but Washington is one player who could change teams over the summer, while Daniel Gafford and Klay Thompson are two other candidates to be traded. Washington, who finished the 2025-26 season on the sidelines due to an elbow injury, averaged 14.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game in 56 regular-season appearances.
