2025 Fantasy Outlook
In his fourth game of the 2024-25 season, Banchero dropped 50 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, two blocks and a steal against the eventual Eastern Conference champion Indiana Pacers. He scored 31 points during Orlando's next game in Chicago but was forced to miss the following 34 contests due to a right oblique strain. The injury obviously impacted Banchero's bottom line in fantasy. However, even when on the court, his inefficient shooting and lackluster defensive production stopped him from being an elite per-game producer in category leagues for a third straight season to start his career. Jalen Suggs also missed the majority of the campaign due to injuries, and despite the trio of Suggs, Banchero and Franz Wagner appearing in only six games together, the Magic made the playoffs. They head into 2025-26 believing they're contenders after trading Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for Desmond Bane and signing Tyus Jones in free agency to replace Cole Anthony. The entire starting lineup is locked in until at least 2028-29 after Banchero landed a five-year rookie max extension this offseason. The talent is ever-present, and Banchero has shown a knack for improving across the board each summer, but until he fixes his obvious flaws, the youngster is better suited for points leagues. Pours in game-high 30 in win
Banchero amassed 30 points (10-21 FG, 5-7 3Pt, 5-5 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and one steal in 32 minutes during Thursday's 131-94 win over Sacramento.
ANALYSIS
It's the first time since Jan. 28 that Banchero has hit for at least 30 points, and the five made three-pointers were a season high. The fourth-year forward was looking gassed ahead of the All-Star break, averaging 18.2 points, 6.3 boards, 4.2 assists and 1.3 threes through the first six games in February while shooting just 40.0 percent from the floor, but Thursday's performance suggests he could be ready to return to form.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2022
Banchero improved in multiple areas during Year 2, notably increasing his scoring production by becoming more efficient from deep and elevating his playmaking. However, both areas still need work, as he shot only 33.9 percent from deep and committed 3.1 turnovers to 5.4 assists per game. Banchero was named to his first All-Star team last season and has the makings of a superstar if he continues on this trajectory, but the team around him will also have to improve if he wants to reach that level. Franz Wagner is a solid No. 2, especially if he can bounce back from a bad three-point shooting season in 2023-24. In the frontcourt, Jonathan Isaac and Wendell Carter have struggled to stay healthy, while Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony and Gary Harris have provided inconsistent production in the backcourt. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope replaced Markelle Fultz, and the sharpshooting veteran should be a great addition to a team that shot 30.9 percent from deep last season. If the pieces around Banchero can be more consistent, the 6-foot-10 point forward could flirt with an All-NBA nomination.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Not ready for contact
Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said Monday that Banchero isn't ready to take contact yet, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
"We just continue to see and monitor how he responds to each treatment each day," Mosley said. Banchero has been doing lots of "non-contact things," but the Magic continue to bring him along slowly from his groin strain. Banchero will miss his ninth consecutive contest Monday against the Bulls, and fantasy managers may need to prepare for more missed action.
