2025 Fantasy Outlook
In his fourth game of the 2024-25 season, Banchero dropped 50 points, 13 rebounds, nine assists, two blocks and a steal against the eventual Eastern Conference champion Indiana Pacers. He scored 31 points during Orlando's next game in Chicago but was forced to miss the following 34 contests due to a right oblique strain. The injury obviously impacted Banchero's bottom line in fantasy. However, even when on the court, his inefficient shooting and lackluster defensive production stopped him from being an elite per-game producer in category leagues for a third straight season to start his career. Jalen Suggs also missed the majority of the campaign due to injuries, and despite the trio of Suggs, Banchero and Franz Wagner appearing in only six games together, the Magic made the playoffs. They head into 2025-26 believing they're contenders after trading Kentavious Caldwell-Pope for Desmond Bane and signing Tyus Jones in free agency to replace Cole Anthony. The entire starting lineup is locked in until at least 2028-29 after Banchero landed a five-year rookie max extension this offseason. The talent is ever-present, and Banchero has shown a knack for improving across the board each summer, but until he fixes his obvious flaws, the youngster is better suited for points leagues. Sits out fourth quarter in loss
Banchero ended with 14 points (5-10 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 3-5 FT), four rebounds and four assists in 25 minutes during Tuesday's 120-112 loss to the Wizards.
ANALYSIS
Banchero played just seven minutes in the second half and did not see the floor in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's loss to the Wizards. Orlando erased a 26-point deficit with the bench unit in the game, prompting head coach Jamahl Mosley to ride the hot hand and limit Banchero and other starters' minutes down the stretch. It marked the 23-year-old forward's fewest minutes since one of his first games back from an early-season groin injury in New York on Dec. 7. He entered Tuesday with strong numbers over the past four appearances, averaging 27.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals over 36 minutes per game.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2022
Banchero improved in multiple areas during Year 2, notably increasing his scoring production by becoming more efficient from deep and elevating his playmaking. However, both areas still need work, as he shot only 33.9 percent from deep and committed 3.1 turnovers to 5.4 assists per game. Banchero was named to his first All-Star team last season and has the makings of a superstar if he continues on this trajectory, but the team around him will also have to improve if he wants to reach that level. Franz Wagner is a solid No. 2, especially if he can bounce back from a bad three-point shooting season in 2023-24. In the frontcourt, Jonathan Isaac and Wendell Carter have struggled to stay healthy, while Jalen Suggs, Cole Anthony and Gary Harris have provided inconsistent production in the backcourt. Kentavious Caldwell-Pope replaced Markelle Fultz, and the sharpshooting veteran should be a great addition to a team that shot 30.9 percent from deep last season. If the pieces around Banchero can be more consistent, the 6-foot-10 point forward could flirt with an All-NBA nomination.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Not ready for contact
Magic coach Jamahl Mosley said Monday that Banchero isn't ready to take contact yet, Jason Beede of the Orlando Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
"We just continue to see and monitor how he responds to each treatment each day," Mosley said. Banchero has been doing lots of "non-contact things," but the Magic continue to bring him along slowly from his groin strain. Banchero will miss his ninth consecutive contest Monday against the Bulls, and fantasy managers may need to prepare for more missed action.
