2025 Fantasy Outlook
Toppin's production last season was similar to 2023-24, as he played a power forward/small-ball center role with the Pacers. He's quietly become one of the most efficient players in the NBA, scoring 10.5 points with a 64.2 true shooting percentage - adding 4.0 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.4 steals in his 19.6 minutes. That efficiency is fueled by corner three-point shooting and high-flying finishes in transition. In fantasy, his viability has been low, though mainly as a result of his limited playing time. There's some upside this year, however. With Myles Turner signing with the Bucks and both Isaiah Jackson and James Wiseman recovering from torn Achilles tendons, the center position is open in Indiana. Jay Huff and Tony Bradley should see minutes out of the gate, but it's possible coach Rick Carlisle leans into small-ball minus Turner and Tyrese Haliburton (also a torn Achilles), which could produce more Toppin-at-center lineups. At 6-foot-9 with a 7-foot-2 wingspan and great athleticism, that's not out of Toppin's wheelhouse. Preseason should tell us more, but if Toppin can secure a role with minutes in the mid-to-high 20s, he could be worth rostering in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks
Light minutes in return
Toppin (foot) recorded three points (1-4 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one steal across eight minutes in Thursday's 133-109 loss to the Hornets.
ANALYSIS
Available to play for the first time since Oct. 26 after completing his recovery from right foot surgery, Toppin entered the starting five but ended up seeing the fewest minutes of any of the 10 players that the Pacers made active for the contest. While he'll likely head back to the bench if Pascal Siakam (wrist) is available for the Pacers' next game Sunday versus the Grizzlies, Toppin should at least see his minutes pick up a little bit in his second contest back from foot surgery.

Despite putting together a career-best season, Toppin struggled to be anything more than a borderline standard league asset. After opening the 2023-24 season as a member of the starting unit, he shifted to the bench in late December, a spot that he held for the remainder of the campaign. Outside of some sporadic scoring, Toppin did very little to get us excited, finishing as the 151st-ranked player. His numbers were reflective of his role, averaging 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.2 three-pointers and 1.1 combined steals and blocks. With Pascal Siakam now signed to a long-term deal, the path to minutes for Toppin is murky, to say the least. He should continue to play as a valuable piece off the bench, something the coaching staff values highly given his new four-year deal. However, that typically doesn't translate to fantasy value, meaning he can be ignored outside of deeper formats. Should the Pacers suffer an injury to their frontcourt, Toppin could step into a larger role, making him someone to at least consider as a short-term pickup.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Won't be rushed back
The organization believes Toppin, who hasn't played since Oct. 26 due to a foot injury, can return at some point this season, but there's no motivation to rush him back, Alex Golden of Sports Illustrated reports.
ANALYSIS
"Yeah, I think he's made great progress with his recovery," general manager Chad Buchanan said. "Whenever you have something with the foot, you want to be pretty cautious with it. So we've been ramping him back up to a certain level where we want to make sure that he feels comfortable and confident, that our medical staff does as well, and put him in the best position to get himself back to the Obi that we all know and love, and give him some chemistry with our guys this year." The team has yet to provide a firm timetable for Toppin's return, but as Golden notes, the club is clearly prioritizing the Dayton product's long-term health.
