2025 Fantasy Outlook
The Hornets added one of the best shooters in the 2025 NBA Draft by selecting Knueppel with the No. 4 overall pick. The Duke product figures to be a starter on Opening Night, alongside LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller in the backcourt. With Knueppel and Miller as elite three-point threats, Ball should have a ton of open space to make plays. Knueppel averaged 14.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steals in 30.5 minutes per game during his lone season with the Blue Devils in 2024-25, proving he's more than just a floor spacer. However, his shooting ability is his most NBA-ready trait (48/41/91 shooting splits in college), so that's the role he'll likely have to fill early in his career while he develops the other parts of his game. Knueppel won't have the ball in his hands a ton, with Ball, Miller and Miles Bridges expected to lead the team in usage, but the rookie should be locked into consistent minutes as long as he holds up defensively. Backup guards Collin Sexton, Spencer Dinwiddie and Tre Mann could eat into Knueppel's playing time if he struggles, but Charlotte will presumably prioritize the youngster's development unless they make a surprising playoff push. Latest Fantasy Rumors
Sets new record
Knueppel became the youngest player in NBA history to hit 250 three-pointers in a single season in the win over the Knicks on Thursday, according to Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer.
ANALYSIS
Knueppel had 26 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists in the win over New York, and in the process, he also made history. Head coach Charles Lee was direct when assessing the rookie's impact on the team. "I think sometimes he gets labeled as just a shooter, but we feel his impact in so many different ways," Lee said. Knueppel is now the only player in NBA history to drain more than 250 three-pointers in a season at the age of 22 or younger. The former Duke prospect has averaged 19.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 3.9 threes and 0.8 steals over 29.7 minutes per game since the All-Star break.
