Dean Wade

Dean Jackson Wade was born in 1996 in Wichita, Kansas to Jay and Trish Wade. He attended St. John High School in St. John, Kansas and won three state championships while picking up two All-State honors. Wade averaged 21.2 points, 8.4 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, 2.8 assists, and 2.9 steals over his high school career. During his senior campaign, he posted 25.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 3.9 steals per game. Wade was a staple of the Kansas State basketball program from 2015-16 to 2018-19, making 123 starts in 126 games. He started his career by averaging 9.9 points and 5.1 rebounds across 26.4 minutes in his freshman season, getting named to the All-Big 12 Freshman Team. Wade posted similar numbers his second season, but his assist total grew to 1.8 per game while his foul total decreased despite more minutes. He averaged a career-high 16.2 PPG in his junior year en route to earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors. The Wildcats made the Elite Eight that year, but Wade was limited to only one NCAA Tournament appearance due to injury. Wade again earned First-Team All-Big 12 honors after averaging 12.9 points and 6.2 rebounds in his senior year, but his career was cut short due to a foot injury and he missed the postseason. He went undrafted in 2019 but caught on with the Cavaliers later that summer on a two-way deal.
