2025 Fantasy Outlook
Holiday will return to Houston after signing a one-year, veteran's minimum deal this offseason. Over the last two seasons, Holiday has been a consistent piece off the Rockets' bench, averaging 6.0 points, 1.6 assists, 1.5 rebounds and 1.1 made three-pointers in 14.6 minutes per game while posting 44/39/89 shooting splits. Fred VanVleet struggled with his efficiency last year, but Houston was a better team when he was on the court, and he was expected to be the starting point guard in 2025-26 after inking an extension. However, the veteran point guard tore his ACL during an offseason workout and will likely miss the entire campaign. In VanVleet's absence, Holiday, who's been the top backup in previous campaigns, could step into a prominent role, but 2024 No. 3 overall pick Reed Sheppard may steal the starting spot if he shows improvements in Year 2. The Rockets will also trust Amen Thompson as a lead guard, not to mention Alperen Sengun's playmaking abilities from center. Holiday is at his best when handling a 3-and-D role, and he's always had limited upside, but VanVleet's injury could open up opportunities for Holiday that he's never had before. Read Past Outlooks
Moves out of rotation
Holiday (coach's decision) went unused off the bench Friday in the Rockets' 107-105 win over the Pelicans.
ANALYSIS
The Rockets didn't have Alperen Sengun (back) available Friday, but his absence wasn't enough for Holiday to stick around in the rotation. After Holiday had averaged 9.5 minutes per game while appearing in each of the past four games, he ended up ceding his spot in the Rockets' nine-man rotation to Jeff Green (nine minutes), with head coach Ime Udoka opting to add more size to the second unit while Dorian Finney-Smith replaced Sengun in the starting five.

Now residing in Atlanta, it's hard to see Holiday playing a significant role for a Hawks team that also acquired Dejounte Murray this offseason. During the 2021-22 season, Holiday split his time between Washington and Phoenix, exceeding 25 minutes on just seven occasions. While he will provide some backup minutes at both guard positions, there are simply too many mouths to feed at this point, leaving him as a fringe deep league asset, at best.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Set for bigger role?
Holiday could be in line for a bigger role as a playmaker for the Rockets in 2025-26 following the season-ending injury sustained by Fred VanVleet, according to Danielle Lerner of The Houston Chronicle.
ANALYSIS
Amen Thompson and Reed Sheppard are expected to see more minutes at point guard with VanVleet out, but Holiday could also experience a bigger role in the rotation. Holiday, who's in the final year of a two-year contract signed in 2024, will likely play off the bench but should see more minutes as a proven option to run the offense on short spurts. The veteran guard averaged 5.5 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 62 regular-season appearances in 2024-25.
