2026 Fantasy Outlook
Grisham entered 2025 seeming like the odd man out in the Yankees' outfield, but he clubbed three homers in his first nine games of the year and delivered career highs in long balls (34), OPS (.812), RBI (74) and runs (87). His .235 average was a major improvement after batting below the Mendoza Line the previous three years, with a .249 xBA and .481 xSLG being well supported by a 46.4 percent hard-hit rate and 14.2 percent barrel rate. Despite the strength of the underlying numbers, the fact Grisham doubled his previous career high for home runs and hit just nine doubles make it difficult not to expect some regression in 2026. He accepted the Yankees' $22.025 million qualifying offer, so he'll at least have the benefit of the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium for another year, and he'll obviously begin 2026 with a stable starting role. Nursing moderate hamstring strain
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Grisham has been diagnosed with a "moderate" right hamstring strain, Brendan Kuty of The Athletic reports.
Analysis
Grisham landed on the 10-day injured list over the weekend, and an MRI on Monday revealed the moderate strain. Boone did not offer a specific timetable for Grisham's return, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he's held out through the All-Star break. Spencer Jones and Cody Bellinger will be tasked with holding down center field while Grisham is out.

Grisham's first season in New York did not go smoothly, as he slashed a meager .190/.290/.385 over 208 plate appearances. It was the third straight year in which Grisham finished the campaign below the Mendoza Line, and whereas he notched both double-digit homers and double-digit thefts in three of his prior four seasons, he managed just nine homers and one stolen base (on two attempts) in 2024. It may be even more perplexing that his defense seemed to slip a couple notches since that element of his game is largely what earned him playing time in the past. The Yankees lost Juan Soto in the offseason but added Cody Bellinger and seem committed to giving phenom Jasson Dominguez a chance to play every day. As a result, Grisham isn't likely to get more than occasional opportunities as a reserve outfielder and left-handed pinch hitter.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Yankees want him back
The Yankees are open to bringing Grisham back for the 2026 season, general manager Brian Cashman told Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. "He had a hell of a year for us, and one of the big reasons why we had the level of success we did. We'd be happy if he accepted and came back."
Analysis
The Yankees extended Grisham the one-year, $22.025 million qualifying offer, but it sounds as though the club could be interested in retaining him even if he turns down the qualifying offer. "If he turns it down, that means the market is flush with teams that have a need in the outfield, especially center field," Cashman said. Grisham had a breakout season in 2025, hitting 34 homers and posting an .812 OPS in 143 regular-season games.
