Rest-of-Season Projections
2026 Fantasy Outlook
Coming off a rookie season that saw him strike out 171 batters over 145 innings, Arrighetti had some buzz in fantasy drafts last spring. Unfortunately, injuries limited the 26-year-old to just seven starts and 35.1 innings for the Astros in 2025. The primary culprit in Arrighetti's lost season was a freak accident during batting practice in early April that resulted in a fractured right thumb and four-month absence. Arrighetti then had all of September wiped out by right elbow inflammation, though he's expected to enter 2026 with a clean bill of health. What Arrighetti did in a limited sample in 2025 didn't quell concerns about his control (12.8 percent walk rate) or home run issues (six allowed in 35.1 frames), and his strikeout rate dipped below 20 percent. The swing-and-miss should come back, but the righty is likely to be a volatile fantasy commodity even if he stays healthy in 2026. Read Past Outlooks
Rebounds with quality start Friday
Arrighetti did not factor into the decision in Friday's 3-1 loss to the Rays, allowing one run on two hits and one walk with four strikeouts over six innings.
Analysis
Arrighetti opened with five scoreless frames before allowing a solo homer in the sixth, generating 10 whiffs on just 73 pitches before departing in a 1-1 tie. It was a much-needed effort for the 26-year-old, who posted a 9.00 ERA in June and entered Friday having surrendered 14 earned runs over his previous two starts. He'll carry a 3.81 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 79:38 K:BB across 78 innings overall into a challenging road matchup with the Nationals next week.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2025
2024
Arrighetti's rookie season had a little bit of everything for everyone, including his fans and his detractors. He had four different contests in which he struck out 10 or more batters, capped off by a 13 strikeout performance against Boston. Four other times, he allowed five or more earned runs, including seven in just 1.1 innings against Detroit. He twice allowed three homers in a contest, and yet struck out 27.1 percent of the batters he faced. However, it was that inconsistency that led to him winning just seven of his 28 starts for a team that won its division. The rookie lived and died off his curveball and sweeper, which collectively held opposing hitters to a .151 batting average, while the league hit .296 off the rest of his offerings. Arrighetti showed signs of progress in the second half, as three of the four aforementioned big strikeout games came after the break, and a reduction in his walk rate helped reduce his ERA two and a half runs from the first half. As long as his nonbreaking pitches are this hittable, homers will continue to be an issue for him in Houston, but reducing the walks can help offset some of that damage. That 21.4 percent K-BB percentage in the second half of the season is something to admire since his overall numbers somewhat mask that late-season goodness.
