2026 Fantasy Outlook
Dominguez's 13.8 percent walk rate in 2025 was among the worst in the league for relief pitchers, but the veteran finished in the 90th percentile or better across several Statcast metrics, including fastball velocity (97.7 mph), whiff percentage (33.3), strikeout percentage (30.3) and expected batting average (.200). The 31-year-old also established new career-high marks for games played (67), innings pitched (62.2), strikeouts (79) and holds (20) between Orioles and Blue Jays. He has a vast, five-pitch arsenal -- including an effective sweeper and splitter that produced some of the highest whiff rates for those pitch types -- with 40 saves and 82 holds on his career ledger. Dominguez joined up with the White Sox on a two-year, $20 million contract in January to reportedly serve as the team's closer. His saves volume will be capped on a bad team, but landing in Chicago should also afford him decent job security. That may not last for all of 2026 if he pitches well, however, since being a reliever on the White Sox automatically makes him an early candidate to be traded. Read Past Outlooks
Melts down in second loss
Dominguez (1-2) took the loss and a blown save Thursday against the Rays, allowing three runs on two hits and one walk in one-third of an inning. He struck out one.
Analysis
The White Sox were nursing a 3-2 advantage in the ninth inning, and Dominguez was unable to preserve the lead and blew his second save of the year. The right-hander had a hard time putting the Rays away, managing a lone out despite throwing 32 pitches, with the performance ending a stretch of four straight outings without giving up an earned run. Chicago may not have much competition for save chances in its bullpen, but Dominguez is off to a rough start to 2026 while logging a 7.50 ERA, 1.83 WHIP and 8:5 K:BB through his first six frames.

Dominguez pitched a career-high 58.2 innings across 63 appearances between Philadelphia and Baltimore last season. His ratios and 12 home runs allowed (1.8 HR/9) typically wouldn't suggest a late-inning role, but Dominguez closed out 2024 as the Orioles' closer, racking up 10 of his 11 saves overall across the final two months. The veteran threw far more sliders (40 percent usage) in 2024, which bumped his K-rate to an above-average 26.7 percent. Dominguez is likely to continue pitching high-leverage innings for Baltimore after the O's exercised his $8 million club option for 2025.
