Falls apart late, blows save
PLos Angeles Angels
April 5, 2026
Bachman blew the save Sunday against the Mariners, allowing one run on two hits while striking out two over two innings.
Analysis
Bachman entered in the eighth inning with a one-run lead and was dominant early, retiring the side on just seven pitches before returning for the ninth. The right-hander was one out away from securing the save but allowed Seattle to rally with back-to-back hits that brought in the tying run. It marked the first earned run Bachman's allowed this season across four appearances (5.2 innings), but he's now blown all three save opportunities since being recalled in July of last year.

2024 Fantasy Outlook
Bachman was the ninth pick of the 2021 MLB Draft, and while he hasn't shown much consistency as a professional in the minors, he did reach the majors in 2023 while posting a solid 3.18 ERA over 11 appearances in 17.1 innings. Unfortunately, his year came to an early end due to a shoulder issue, and he's expected to miss at least the first month of the 2024 campaign as well. When healthy, Bachman regularly gets his fastball up to 99 mph, but he relies on his slider heavily; throwing that offering 60 percent of the time in his MLB action. The 24-year-old could be a closer someday, and assuming good health, he could see save chances by the end of the 2024 campaign. At this point, however, fantasy managers should take a wait-and-see approach before using a draft pick or salary cap funds on Bachman.

Playing catch
PLos Angeles Angels
June 20, 2022
Bachman has begun playing catch as he rehabs from back spasms, reports Sam Blum of The Athletic.
Analysis
Bachman left his May 27 start for Double-A Rocket City due to back spasms. After undergoing an MRI, it was revealed that he also had inflammation in his bicep. The 22-year-old had been pitching well in his first stint at Double-A, compiling a 1.98 ERA across 13.2 innings in four starts. He'll need a couple of weeks to progress through a throwing program before returning to game action.
